After the amazing Slanted & Enchanted: Luxe and Reduxe reissue, does anyone know if Matador plans to reissue any other Matador albums?
They've hinted at it, but nothing has "officially" been announced.

Liz Phair's "Exile in Guyville" was supposed to get the fancy-pants treatment, with the Girlysound tapes and various demos attached. What happened to that?
Ask Capitol...they're probably busy trying to cover the cost of pressing all the copies of her new cd that people aren't buying.

from bitchfork's news section this past March:
"And speaking of fucking, running, and cumming, we should also mention that Phair is preparing an expanded tenth-anniversary reissue of her 1993 debut, Exile in Guyville. Due to a legal oversight, the masters apparently reverted to Phair's ownership in 2000 (whoops!), and she hopes to re-release the landmark album this Christmas with "extra special stuff" including a new Brad Wood mix, demos from Phair's still-unreleased "girlysound" tapes, pictures, and extensive interviews covering "the whole Wicker Park story... Urge [Overkill], Hendy, Material Issue, Casey [Rice], Idful, The Rainbow, Johnny Machine, Nasty Steve Albini, etc.""
ohhh, so Liz owns the material now. That explains it...
Ok, we'll never hear it again ever.

Has it bombed that badly?

well, it said there was supposed to be a December release, so it could still happen - they're just confirmining November releases right now. But assuming that it'd come out through Capitol, I wonder if they'd want to put out material that lends support to the "Liz used to be good and now she sucks" camp. I have no idea how well her new album has done - the indie kids are shunning it, but has the mainstream taken to it? I dunno. I would like to see the double "Guyville" but am not holding my breath right now.

We are indeed planning a deluxe version of "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain", along hopefully with vinyl versions of "Slanted Deluxe" and this new reissue. Projected release late 2004.

That's great Patrick! Any insight as to what will be included with the remastered album? Will there be a live recording by chance? Thank you.

'Exile On Guyville' reverting to Liz Phair was not result of an "oversight", regardless of what Pitchfork or any other outlet have reported. Matador's term of ownership for the masters had expired and the rights reverted to the artist. This "oversight" was a binding clause in Liz Phair's contract that was negotiated by her and her attorney. Characterizing it otherwise suggests that we are incompetent....which hardly seems just considering that no one at Matador has taken the bait and delivered a song by song critique of Liz's most recent album.
But that would require buying a copy.

A "CR, CR" reissue?
This is great news. Sounds like an awesome idea - I wonder what would be included...
A live show (or two!) from that era?
Demos with Gary Young?!?!
I suppose it would have to somehow bridge the gap of sorts between "Shoot the Singer" and the entire sound of CR, CR.
Just have to wait and see/hear...
