Hey, have you heard anything about Coachella, or any other bands that are playing All Tomorrows Parties yet?

what's up Jeff? The LA ATP lineup looks great. Barry Hogan, the guy who runs it, did a d.j. set yesterday on KXLU and talked about the festival. He played great stuff.
On the Coachella front, this is what I know: Soundtrack of Our Lives, Deep Dish, Johnny Marr, Polyphonic Spree, and Ben Kweller are the only confirmations known. That leaves me pretty indifferent. Yet, the talk of headliners is interesting. Supposedly, the Beastie Boys are almost a lock, and Radiohead may be so as well. I've also heard talk of Underworld.
I think we'll get an official announcement next week. I already have a campsite reserved, so I'm going to go no matter what, but right now, my money's on ATP. Here's a more up to date website:

Yeah, I'm pretty jazzed about the ATP lineup so far. And there's still like 25 more bands unannouced. I'm also kinda glad that it's not gonna be all at UCLA this year. The Security really sucked last year. Especially for Wilco.
Also, I heard from a friend that the Cure might play Coachella this year. That would be cool if true.
So you're living in LA again? Didn't you move to Nashville for a while?

Yeah, I got a job at my alma mater so I had to move back. Simply a money issue because I came to truly love Nashville and all its trappings (the Titans, Baja Burrito, Sledding at the Una rec. center). Still, going to the beach this afternoon made me realize that it's not so bad to be back in Santa Monica.
Mundane L.A. vs. Nashville observation: shows in Nashville always start really late and end late, but they're cheap, have a nice community feeling, and are held in distinctive clubs (springwater, anyone?) L.A., on the other hand, has abundant shows that suit my early to bed early to rise schedule, but they're pricey and are populated by Strokes lookalikes. Not that the last thing is bad, but sometimes I just want to wear shorts and a sweatshirt, and I can't really pull off an ironic member's only jacket. Is that so bad? Is it worse if I subconsciously want to look like Scott Kannberg? Did I reveal too much? Is this bulletin board surrogate therapy?
Where you working at? Welcome back.

Pepperdine University. I'm the guy who takes the notes at disciplinary hearings.

I forgot to mention that I ended up playing in a band with some cool dudes in Nashville thanks to a post I made on the bulletin board.
Thanks Matador!
