Hoax MTV

I read this insane message from some kid:

"Hey what's this I saw on MTV about Chan Marshall being killed in a car crash??? Anybody else see this?"

then a reply:
"yes I saw this too. it was a small blurb during the news. could it be a hoax? she has a new album soon. well it is very sad."

Comments anyone? We procecute MTV or send the kids to a mental institution?

I covered this on a (short-lived) thread the poster(s) posted here. those two guys on the Cat Power BBS were one guy (check the IP addy) trying to be assholes. there was a similar hoax last year about Joe Pernice dying in a car wreck.
