how many times have you guys seen mogwai live? i've seen them three times the past two years. and they keep on getting better and better. the only thing that i'd like to them to do is to play songs that they've rarely played live. they should at least try playing "tracy" when they have samplers and delay pedals.

not enough times! once for CODY, twice for Rock Action, once for HSFHP, and at least one more time (maybe twice if I can get a ticket for the second night in L.A.).
songs i would like to hear live again or for the first time (but not necessarily rare songs)

they've been playing that song at every show on their ongoing us tour. there's been talks of playing sine wave live again.

Do they usually play Christmas Steps? I'm seeing them in a couple days and I hope they play that song and also Killing All the Flies and Ratts of the Capitol.

I don't know how regularly they play it but they played Christmas Steps on one of the L.A. dates during the Rock Action tour. That was the only time I'd ever heard the song live.

I guess I've been lucky. I just saw my third Mogwai show, and every one has included Chirstmas Steps. Actually, this last one was pretty close to a perfect setlist, including Mogwai Fear Satan, 2 Rights, Helicon 1, and MFMK (http://brightlight.youngteam.co.uk/eng/gig100903.php). But no 'Long Way From Home'.

hey, ...
ive seen em 5 times in the last 3 years, really i think id only be happy if i was at every one. seeing them live, hearing the music in that environment is amazing, hearing the songs like come alive and as loud as it's supposed to be....greatt...
if anyone is interested-with high speed internet..i taped the toronto/montreal shows on minidisc... some of the songs in montreal didnt come out soo hot, some did though-- toronto is ok, ..one of my friends blacked out though half way into hunted by a freak, so the recordings fucked then..... however there is a toronto mix thats an audience dat w/ soundboard, mixed to gether to get the best recording...its out there, and i will eventually have it... if anyoen wants any tho,
im at :
helicon02 at hotmail dot com
for montreal, fear satan, long way, ratt and jewish hymn came out nicely, the others, the quiets are too quiet, and the drums didnt come out as full ...but like i know you, and hunted by a freak are fine as well...
toronto is consistent throughout, but doesnt compare to the soundboard.

..by the way..
both toronto and montreal were good, montreal was better though, the band seemed more into it, and the audience in montreal was great.... the crowd in toronto tended to clap at odd times, and occasionally thered be some idiot yelling something useless during quiet parts, ...toronto they left us wanting more....but i think the montreal audience just got everything they wanted from them....i feel like a bastard for missing part chimp in montreal, we got to the venue late, but i caught them in toronto, played a sweet 40 min. set, --i taped that too, but forgot the MD in toronto, just waiting for my friend to mail it to me....
ill post again when i get it and if turned out ok...
the venue was good too, great sound, and they didnt dissapoint for a second....really too bad they dont play multiple nights here, im drreaming

looks like my prayers may have been blessed. today i read the news over at bright light:
"if anyone has been present at soundchecks on the north american tour, please let us know. the carrboro soundcheck included a run-through of 'tracy'."

I've seen 'em three times. Although they do seem to get better with every show, it's that first time that really sticks with me.
One odd thing I've noticed...the band is playing more stuff from Rock Action now than they did on the Rock Action tour...or at least the tour date here in L.A.
God, I love seeing Mogwai live. I would go to every show if I could.
