The interior packaging for the individual discs may in fact be very cool, and I can't wait to see the booklet as well.

But, I'm sorry, the cover of the box is just horrid. Nowhere near as cool as the cover for Suitcase. The colors are brash and harsh and the typography and placement just looks like it was thrown together in 2 seconds.

I remember reading on here that they were going after a pulp, sci-fi paperback effect, which I think could have lent itself to a very cool design. I like the idea, but Matador missed badly on this one (or didn't do enough historical research into why those original pulp sci-fi covers were so striking). This cover is hard to look at.

Oh well, you'll still get my $ to hear Forever Since Breakfast and the other unreleased songs.

You obviously never looked at the TVT covers then.

I know there are folks out there who liked the Iso Drills cover (and perhaps a few less who liked the Do the Collapse art), but those were pretty lame efforts in my opinion. You can have slick, major-label looking packaging without it being uninteresting....or totally changing the feeling the band created with their previous albums. Going from the brilliance of the Mag Earwig cover to the photoshop yick of DTC was hard to swallow (but I was more than happy to hear the pumped up production qualities).

I refrained from compairing the Hardcore UFO cover to those albums, but yeah...now that you mention it...since they're including some of the TVT songs, I guess they figured they'd continue the style of TVT's ill-advised cover 'strategies' as well...

Good lyrics, good guitaring, good vocal performance...yum!

Depsite this ongoing discussion/complaint session regarding the artwork for the boxset, something tells me this thang just may rank up there as being one of the greatest releases in Matador history....
