The "5.1" DVD, which includes the US version of the "PM" (Point Mixes) CD as a bonus, is in stores today, at the price of 15.98 for the set.

The US version of "PM" contains one track different from the Japanese version.

with the packaging of the Five Point One DVD+CD, specifically the method of inclusion of PM, the bonus audio disc of winning remix contest entires. For those who don't have it, the audio disc is just laid on top of the DVD.

Hi, I'm Channing, and my cat Piccolo and I are Animal Family feat. MC Cat Genius, composers of track 4 on PM. If I remember my bulk jewelcase rates correctly, a DVD case with a divider costs something like $0.16 per unit more than a non-divider case. While I'm glad that Matador decided to throw in PM with the DVD, I didn't expect them to do it so literally, in a way that indicates a disregard for the disc and all but guarantees its getting scratched just sitting on the shelf.

Granted, I only have the DVD-case version, not the standard-size jewelcase version, so maybe the packaging is better on that one. And maybe I'm taking this too personally, and poor packaging on a listener-remix compilation doesn't actually indicate a deep-seated resentment toward creative young people. But really, Matador, what gives?

Thanks for your time,

Channing

The tray is a bona fide 2-disc tray. you can tell that it is deeper and that both discs lock under the tab... we assumed we were going to get the 'smark pak' version ie what you get if you buy the jewel case version, a tray that swings and has one disc on each side, but what our manufacturer could get a hold of was this version only, and it took extra time to get them as well. Sorry to disappoint you but I guarantee you that this packaging was not cheap, especially considering what we're selling it for. I can also let you know that Matador is not the only company using these trays. But yeah, had there been another dbl disc tray available I probably would have picked that instead. This version might actually be safer for the discs themselves at least, less chance of them flying around in the package.

I'd be intersted to know if anyone else has seen a more conventional 2-CD King Super Jewel, with the same thickness of the package and a swing tray.

Best,
JE

And just so that everyone knows, that shiny, difficult-to-remove sticker which leaves the word "VOID" all over the package when you peel it off was part of Keigo's concept for the package, not some security thing that we put on there.

Jesper / Patrick,

Thanks for your quick response. Upon close examination, I can see that there is a nanometer of air separating the two discs, and the top disc does lock into place with a satisfying click. Oh. I feel a little like an ass, but on first glance, it really didn't look kosher. Still, sorry to have doubted you, Matador.

Maybe for the next run, if you can't find a case with a swing tray, you can make it like the LOTR box set and make it look like a old-timey book or something, and include a felt map and a figurine encased in plexiglass.

And I recommend cutting through the sticker with a scissor blade, for posterity's sake. Though it was more fun when I was cutting off Roddy McDowell's legs on CM/FM... fucker.

Best,
Channing

....... Which leads me to the question of what kind of solvent will remove that glue without attacking the plastic. Now the residue just sticks to everthing.

Oh by the way, the DVD is awsome.

I agree: the DVD is awesome. Now, all we want is a new full length from Keigo. Apparently, I can't be satisfied.

Is this going to be released in Europe? I already have it on order (still hasn't come, despite being shipped on the 20th... gah) but I'd still like to know if it was coming out here. Argos have it down for the 9th of Feb, or something. But that's Argos... and they're shit.
