haha, don't worry, Rollerskate Skinny's a "real" band.

I really enjoyed Rollerskate Skinny. What happened to them?

They broke up. Jimmy Shields formed another band that had at least one album on a US major label, but I think that they have broken up too.

'Horsedrawn wishes' is a great album, I had it on cassette years ago but I lost it, I can't find a copy of it anywhere, I think it's deleted

Horsedrawn Wishes is great, I have it on disc, but haven't seen it in any shops lately.

I had Horsedrwan Wishes on heavy rotation back in the late 90's. I scratched it to hell in the process. Unfortunately it's out of print now.

Jimmy Shields' band that formed/split up after Rollerskate Skinny was named Kid Silver and their only album was Dead City Sunbeams (Jet Set). It's pretty good.

actually, kid silver is griffin's "group." i think he played all of the instruments on 'dead city sunbeams'

jimi's group is 'lotus crown'-- they released the 'alvar aalto' ep in '95 and 'chokin on the jokes' lp in '97

he's the only one left in the group now and has recently released some singles under the lotus crown name-- i think he's in another group now

jimi left after rollerskate skinny released 'shoulder voices'

most of what you hear on 'horsedrawn wishes' is from the mind of ken griffin

rollerskate skinny; a group with a completely flawless catalog

Is Lotus Clown worth listening to? Is it anything like Rollerskate or Kid Silver?

lotus crown is worth a listen

as well as kid silver

not as amazing as rollerskate skinny, but it fills some void and is nice enough

edit: "is it anything like rollerskate skinny?"

i think these similar to the pavement solo outings-- some gems here and there, but seems like there's something missing

with lotus crown and kid silver it's easy to pull out jimi and ken's influence on rollerskate skinny's work

And of course all of their stuff is out of print...

shouldn't matador be obtaining horsedrawn wishes and shoulder voices and adding them to their new mid price classics line??

(so I can spend more money on drugs than tracking down my 4th copy of a rollerskate skinny album...)
