know them? like them? i've seen them twice over the past year - once opening for interpol, once opening for spiritualized - and came away terribly unimpressed both times. i really didn't like them at all - they seemed unoriginal and a little too full of themselves. their album is getting lots of hype though and it seems like most people dig 'em. curious to know if it's just me.

(the lead singer's girlfriend was drop dead gorgeous though, for what it's worth.)

They're like a Flaming Lips cover band who doesn't actually *cover* any Lips songs.

I can see how you might say this about "September 000" (Only sort of, though), but the new record isn't like that at all.

I'm not sure in what regard it sounds similar to the Flaming Lips. U2, maybe? But um...def. not Flaming Lips. I mean, what similarities do you hear?

love them. saw them with trail of dead in st. louis. prolly only band that's officially blown my mind. you can hear the new album at their website
