This is the first Cd in a while that I can't stop listening to. Has anybody else heard it?

I have, I was obsessed with it for the first few days after I got it. but wasn't this released several years ago?

Yeah......it's from the 70's but not that many people have heard of it so I thought I'd suggest.

the new DJ koze mix on kompakt drops the langley version of "the long and winding road" and it's pretty damn cool. has me intrigued by the LP, though i imagine the concept might get old over the course of a full-length.

It's not just any independent release that gets its own 30-min special on VH-1, so I'd hardly call it obscure.

it does, but a few songs at a time, it's pretty neat.

There's no question, it is a good record. I listened to it quite a bit when it came out 2 years ago. It got old fast though, and I haven't listened to it in a long time - I'll have to give it a listen again.

i didn't realize that that was from the langley release. it is cute as one song on the mix, but i couldn't imagine sitting through a whole album of that stuff.
what do you think of the koze disc? i'm enjoying it quite a bit and am thinking it will probably being one of the better mixes of the year. hopefully, the DFA or trevor jackson will drop mixes that turn things upside down.

yeah i also like it a lot. i like how he jumps around genres but keeps it smooth throughout. throws one of my favorite villalobos tracks in there too. certainly the best '04 mix i've heard so far, and i imagine it'll stay near the top.
a DFA mix would be a nice treat. i recently discovered that 'the sound of young new york' is basically just a DFA mix in disguise ... been digging that of late too.

yep, the koze mix will be one of the better mixes this year, while sound of young new york was one of the best of '03.
not sure if we talked about this, but did you hear the "smallville" mix yet? it's really beautiful minimal house-ish released on the venerable kompakt label as well. probably my fave of '03. talk about a slow burner.

no - tobias thomas right? i've been meaning to check it out. as with seemingly everything on kompakt, i hear only good things about it. i have started to get into jonas bering, who i think you recommended some time back.
the villalobos mix 'taka taka' was maybe my favorite of last year, though i also really enjoyed 'one louder' by erol alkan. the alkan is more in the vein of DFA/2manyDJ's.

yes, if you like the jonas bering release, then get tobias thomas' smallville mix. you will like it a lot. also check out thomas fehlmann's visions of blah.
i haven't heard your recommendations, but will check them out. thanks. we should start a separate thread for this stuff.
