Tolerable or garbage? Considering both the actual venues and the fact that they're Clear Channel-associated.
What do you think?
tsd,
which ones are which in nyc? i've never really paid too much attention, but have suspicions about which ones would be CC affiliated.

It really depends on where you live. If Clear Channel is the only show in town, you're fucked but potentially happy that you've got something.

I've never been to one, and I don't think anyone I listen to would play one, so I doubt it will ever come up.

Clear Channel sponsors over 35,000 live events every year. I think you've been to a Clear Channe supported venue or concert, I don't think you can avoid it, and I don't think there's anything you can do about it.

I can't even remember all of them, to be totally honest. I know Irving Plaza is.
Maybe Bowery Ballroom? I'm pretty sure.
I feel like I'm forgetting another one, and I probably am, and there are probably twenty more that I don't know about.

Matador acts play at lots of Clear Channel venues.
Even Sleater-Kinney, a band whom I have (and continue to, actually) respected for their independant nature are playing two dates at Irving in April.

I have a feeling you may be wrong... but then again, you're in OK, right? maybe only the Enormodomes there are Clear Channel...
I know in Boston if'n you're going to see anyone at the Paradise (The Walkmen, Guided by Voices, Pinkback, you know, those types), then that's Clear Channel.
It comes up...

many people in minneapolis (including myself) boycott clear channel shows, and if it's a group we really want to see, we'll e-mail them telling them why we didn't go.
first avenue is anit-clear channel, and that's where most of the events that i'm most interested in are hosted
there are a couple of clubs that are almost strictly clear channel, while others have cc shows every once in a while, so we keep our eyes open as to what shows we are seeing
it's tough sometimes, but for a good a cause
all of this big business stuff is just sick. fewer and fewer people are gaining more and more control over everything, just think about it for a little bit.
sooner or later this is all going to kick us straight in the ass, and it's going to hurt a lot.
but hey, we might get some cool music movements out of it. remember punk rock?

Actually Hammerstein isn't. Maybe Roseland.
