The first Pixies show in over a decade? I think it's pretty goddamn exciting.

My friend in Minneapolis who's going has promised me a rip of the live recording for sale immediately after the show. Any interest? (And can someone tell me if a public link to such material would be frowned upon in the same way as an official release? I wasn't sure.)

Yeah, it would be frowned upon.

well, was anyone there?

If I'd been there I'd be all aflutter, but I don't know if anyone here made it to it.

reports would certainly not be frowned upon. I'm certainly curious, especially as I figure I won't be seeing them, even if they do come to this area. I'm not one to scramble for tickets for anything, unless it were a Jimi Hendrix Experience reunion.

I just meant that Mitch Mitchell's the only third of the "Experience" who's still kicking it above ground (but I could be wrong).

christ, you sure know how to kill a joke, cox.

;)

really I'd just scramble to get tickets to the show documented on "Live at Winterland," or better yet, "Band of Gypsys."

Buddy Miles and Billy Cox are still alive, right?

man, I've gotta bust out some of those records. as played as it sounds, Jimi was the fucking king.

My buddy and his friend paid $500 for two tickets. I thought about going down to the show to see if I could get tickets, after hearing they were going for $250 a piece, I am glad I didn't. The Pixies are good, but not worth $60/hour.

The local review said the band — particularly Frank Black — looked disinterested. I didn't see them back in the day, so I am not sure if this is normal stage presence for the band.

I heard the first song was "Bone Machine."

The band is coming back in November to play a much larger venue. I plan on attending that show.

By the way, The Fine Line, the club where the show was played, only holds about 1000 people.

Oh, and so as not to put a frown on our friend Patrick's face...if you're interested and have difficulty tracking down a copy of the recording (which is currently owning me and sure to make a shambles of my workday), feel free to email me. (FYI: If you know how to use Bit Torrent, this should be readily available--legally--at the Sharing the Groove (http://sharingthegroove.org/msgboard) messageboard.

I made it to the show (and even got my tickets at face value, so thank god for that). They sounded great. It took a couple of songs for Frank to get his screeches and yelps up to snuff, but when he sang "You think I'm dead, but a sail away..." on "Wave of Mutilation"- everything seemed to click for me. The voice, the guitars, bass, drums were so jaw droppingly on point I just floated away. I could quibble with the set list a bit (I mean really, is it necessarry to play Wave of Mutilation twice at the expense of either a second song off of either "Bossanova" or "Trompe le Monde"?) but really, I'm still buzzin' off the whole experience today... Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this whole thing besides the current round of touring; with the exception of a few spare glances, it seemed that the band spent a great deal of the evening ignoring each other. Don't think I'll bother with the second show- I got my 27 songs of euphoria.
