Does anyone here happen to have a complete list of all the Pavement b-sides and compilation tracks, etc. I want to try and find all the singles and comp tracks that I don't already have to compile them. That is, unless Matador records would be kindly enough to release some kind of collection.

I saw somewhere on this here forum that there was talk of a CRCR reissue. That's all bullshit right? A wet dream?

Much obliged.

not entirely a wet dream...

Spiral Stairs has alluded to future deeluxx reissues of the pavement catalog at least in the contemplating, if not actually planning state, and Patrick once let slip something about future reissues...

I'm not keeping my hopes up, but the rumors seem to be more solid than just some kid on the internet making something up.

Does anyone know what record the song "Raft" was on? I just found an mp3 of it.

the 'range life' single issued by big cat records, i think. don't have it here in front of me... 'coolin' by sound,' the other track on the platter, is good too...

see....dang. There are all these songs that I don't know. coolin by sound? Never heard of that one. It's killing me. I guess it will just be a matter of finding all these singles.

To NOah and Johansen:

Excellent Thanks for the lists. Now. Where do I find all that stuff? Obviously, I could buy the singles but they are hard to find. Some of that stuff is on ebay but I don't feel like keeping up with 4 or 5 auctions. I'd like to just find the singles themselves and buy them outright. I have a majority of that stuff on Noah's disc. I don't have the Rattled by La Rush and the Father to a Sister of a Thought singles.

Noah,

The porpoise and the hand grenade is from the Spit on a Stranger single. Gangsters is on the Give it a Day singe. Got those.

Johansen,

where do I find the stuff you listed. Any chance you have them on a disc that can be recorded? Hint hint. cha-ching $$$$$

Either one of you for that matter.

Thanks.

speaking of the space ghost songs... the one that has the word "jam"' at the end. was that really an improvised jam? probably not, but it would be damn cool if it were. those two songs are as good as anything else pavement put out, at least to me.

i was looking at some pavement singles on ebay and they go for some ridiculous prices. 30-40 bucks for a seven inch! the completist that i am, it would be cool to own the whole lot pavement singles. all i need now is a turntable.

Just because I'm a nerd, I Love Perth, Haunt You Down, Jam Kids, and And Then are the proper single b-sides. The rest of those songs are on soundtracks, complilations, or just from TV, like when the Pave were on Space Ghost. Saw that one once but I was too fucked-up to quit that game of Jenga my pals and I had going.

Oh, and wait before you 'sell your ass' for these. Wait for the sure-to-come Complete Pavement B-Sides disc, coming out in shit, I don't know, 2005.

Well, I probably won't really sell my ass but I'd really, really, really like to have a copy of that stuff. You would be greatly compensated, possibly. Maybe. I would especially like to hear the stuff KoolWhpp just mentioned. But, if it's not in the cards. I'll just wait until 2005.

Oh yeah, from 'Brain Candy,' the Kids In The Hall movie! I remember being the most excited of the three people in the theatre when it played over the ending credits.

Y'all forgot to mention "No More Kings", a very fine Pavement tune from the "Schoolhouse Rock Rocks!" compilation. It's technically not a b-side, but it's not an album track either, and it's good.

so excited you hallucinated, I guess, since it doesn't play over any credits. it's used when Kevin MacDonald and Bruce McCulloch exit the awards ceremony.

The video for painted soldiers is priceless. My favorite part is when Steve West gets the letter that he's been fired from Pavement while he's hanging with the family, and all the children start crying...

No More Kings is easily one of my favorite recordings by them. I used to have a tape with a version they did of that song at the '96 Tibetan Freedom Concert too. Bob replaces the "its wrong" with:

"taxation without representation? well that's not fair! (its fucking fascism!)"

brill!

tinobeat

or wait, maybe Malk yells the thing about fascism and Bob just screams something else.. its been years since I lost that tape.. *snif*

And then there's the really odd live shit Steve Krotosky (if I recall that far back) had on his Radio Pave website. Stuff like:
'Neil Hagerty vs. Jon Spencer in a Blowout'
'Then' (which later became the Hexx, but I like Then's slightly different lyrics more)
something I recall having Metallica in the title
The covers of champagne supernova, something, and god knows what else...
Then there's the two big Pave boots, Stray Slack and Stuff Up The Cracks, which seem to have fairly wide distribution and feature many rare and... unique songs

tinobeat
03-12-2003, 12:04 PM
Stray Slack is basically entirely on the new version of Slanted. There's something like 3-4 songs on Stray Slack that still aren't official, but most of it is out. All the early stuff on Stuff Up the Cracks is on S+E:L+R too.

Steve Krotosky's (sp?) site was the bomb..

in case anyone's still interested, i've been my own b-sides compilation for a couple years (some of these are hard to track down)...let me know if i've missed anything...i've attempted to collect all officially released songs from 1992-1999. wherever possible i've listed the best CD source of the song. only a couple are only available on vinyl (Dancing With The Elders, And Then, and Watch Out). And by the way, can anyone hook me up with quality .wav's or mp3's of these songs? I'd be eternally grateful. Also, if anyone out there knows where the hell i can find a copy of the God Save the Clean album with Oddity on it, I'd appreciate it.

Nice List!
As for God Save the Clean album try flying nun records, there online shop or an Australian/Nz new/second-hand record shop thats on line. Try dixons.com.au they have five huge second-hand stores in Melbourne (Australia) don't know how good the online store is though. I've seen that album floating around in clearance bins many years ago.

Thanks for the help! I'll check those places out.

and I'm assuming from the info in your reply that the disc is an Australian release? I was not aware...

thanks a lot,
Eric

Flying nun the Cleans label is New Zeland based but as far as I know Australia is where they sell the bulk of their product
