Guitarist in Chan's band

i am puting together an article for the paper i freelance for
and i was wondering if anyone here knows who is currently playing guitar for her.
he is a pretty tall and lanky fellow and plays a red fender jazzmaster, included is a bad pic of him at yesterday's sasquatch festival.

ha! this guy happens to be a friend of mine, so here's the skinny.

he plays drums in a 60's punk/garage band called the Coachwhips, from SF.

he also plays guitar and sings in his own band called the How, which is blatantly modeled after mid 60's groups like the Who (hence the name), the Kinks, the Creation, etc. it's just a two piece and the drummer lives in Arizona, so it's not terribly active. though they should have a 7" coming out very very soon on Slumberland records.

he also currently plays saxaphone in a couple of noise/punk bands. Total Shutdown, which is more punk than noise, and MurderMurder which is something of a cross between Peter Brotzmann and Masonna, i.e. improv noise band that uses primarily jazz instrumentation.

former bands include Henry's Dress, Rocketship, and the Husbands.

thanks so much for this reply! as i said, i was severely impressed with matthew. it doesn't surprise me to hear all of the things he's got going on. i've got a friend that reminds me of him, especially in the sense that he devotes everything he is to music and can play anything you put in front of him.

I didn't know Chan had a new guitarist in her band, does someone has a recording of them together, I'd love to hear that guitarist guy if he is that good.
