The album is good. Patrick was right, it is a corker. Sequencing is quite good.

And I just finished saying that I wouldn't buy records that were not solid. Here's my first solid purchase after having said so.

And I was able to buy it on the first attempt.

I agree, this album is great; it makes the New Pornographers sound mediocre. One of the best albums of the year so far.

bf, did you buy it directly from us? Just curious, given your past (bad!) experiences.

I want to pick this up, I hope my local store has it, they're usually pretty good with MAtador stuff.

Nah, I bought it at Criminal in Atlanta.

Nah, it was still in the shipping box. The dude was in process of checking in arriving records.

I find the glass wall to be a little intimidating. But the people there are incredibly nice which makes it easier to shop for stuff.

I think the chances of having it in my local record shop are slim. I think the only matador cd I've ever seen in there is Pig Lib, and maybe Interpol. I guess I'll have to buy it online.

Ladt, do us a favor and ASK for it in your local store. We're having problems getting the A.C. Newman thing going in the UK.

I ordered through Matador/Insound online the other day. Was considering checking with you Patrick to see if it's getting an Australian release, but just figured it'd be easier online.

OK, will do, although my local store is quite bad, even when I ask sometimes they can't get it in.

It just helps for them to know that there are A.C. Newman fans out there... for some reason the New Pornos and A.C. Newman are just not at all popular in the UK, nothing to match their success elsewhere.

Thanks

You could be the cool kid that defies the whole of UK that thinks that Jet is the fucking bomb.

I'm finally listening to this on my office computer stereo because all those in surrounding cubicles are gone for some reason. Yes, this is sounding really good. And to think that when I got into Zumpano in high school I assumed that Newman's talents would disappear with the dissolution of that band. Not so, my friend!

I haven't been able to find this anywhere, so I ended up having to order it. This sucked since I wanted it on release day!

Canada or the US? In Canada the album is on Carl's own label, the blue curtain, which is distributed by Scratch. If you are in the US please reply and tell me what stores you checked at that did not have the album
Hope that helps a bit.

Take care

Dave

A.C. Newman getting regular radio rotation here in Sydney on FBi 94.5FM and nationally on Australia's JJJ 105.7FM - is cool.

One of my best friends lives in Canberra. Turned me onto JJJ.

He's a local artist in Canberra:

Cool bitterfruit - will check out his site - looks good. Yeah, JJJ is national, not the best, but not terrible either. Some great bands are hiding in Canberra, but they have to fight to get people to shows. Just that kind of scene from what i've been told.

I appreciate your help Dave.

I'm in Canada and up until today I didn't see the album anywhere. I live about an hour away from Toronto but today I decided to hit one of the good record shops and they had it.

I love the record. I've listened to it about 10 times already and I am amazed (again) at how great of a songwriter Newman is.
