Anything essential here, or is it primarily for completists?
I wouldn't say it's a necessary buy, as there's nothing on it that's really essential, unless you really want all their Geffen-era videos in pristine digital form. But for the price (it was a buck cheaper than Sonic Nurse for me), if you're a fan, it's worth it.

Well, I've been watching it pretty much non-stop since Tuesday, so I'd agree with you right now, but a month/year/decade from now, I think the only things on it that I'll be glad to have are the video for "Cinderella's Big Score" and the live performance of "She is Not Alone".

Does anyone know if their prior video release, Screaming Fields of Sonic Love, has earlier videos and live footage on it? I'm a bigger fan of their early, pre-Geffen stuff. I am considering getting the DVD though, when I get some extra money to spend on it.
I know it's got *some* old videos, but I don't think it's quite comprehensive. It's been a long time since I've seen it, though. If I remember correctly, it ends with their version of "I Wanna Be Your Dog."

The videos listed here: http://www.sonicyouth.com/videos/index.html up 'till Goo are on the first collection. Actually, a few of those live ones aren't. BUT on the back of Corporate Ghost it says a DVD collection of pre-"sell-out" material is forthcoming, so "I Wanna Be Your Dog (w/ Iggy Pop)" and "Schizophrenia" might appear on the next collection.
