All you folks who went to the Melbourne gigs, please post a review!
I didn't go to either of the gigs this year due to my really tight-arse budget so do tell!
She sang so beautifully last September at the Athaneum so I'm kinda schitted off that I missed out this year. I did, however, see a few people waiting around at The Forum while walking towards Flinders St station after a football game...from the distance I was at, one of them may have been her. or maybe not. ehehe

i went last night (2nd row centre).
she told us straight away that a sense of humor didn't cost anything so she would try to work one up for us (apparently she was in a better mood for Fridays gig) since she got up at 5.30pm
first song was 'the party' and she played the guitar for a few songs which she would switch between without a break(including the white stripes 'i wanna b the boy to win your mothers heart'. Played 'i don't blame u' on the piano as well as 'names' and a few new songs. when she switched back to the guitar this bitch started giggling and talking through her emotional song and she stopped and asked the guys to turn up the houselights so we would all recognise her.... it was the reason she left early too. if i had seen that woman on the way out i was gonna tackle her. arg!
because the lights were down so low i couldn't really get any decent photos..

i was 2nd row centre too oddly enough. on my own between a couple and a group of girls.. which were you? it was a good concert. a lot of people a bit sick of the unstable unpredicatable act and that giggling woman made chan shorten her time, the night before she went until 11 30pm. what was the 'This is not Bjork song' that she sang to? and the kid's rap lip syncing.. interesting.

nup.. never have before. it was quite good actually. could just enjoy the concert and talk to new people. a friend bought a ticket on the night but he was in a different seat. i was just so desperate to go and none of my friends really know cat power so i figured id give it a shot and i got in and all is well now :) yeah there were some great songs but i was a bit disapointed she didnt play baby doll.

sugarbabydoll, I know how you feel! I would've wanted to tackle that woman too, especially after the football match I'd been too that night. arghh!
some mofo'ing bitch at last years solo gig yelled, "I want my money back!". even though Chan was talking in between songs, not finishing them and annoying a few of the audience in the process, that woman was so inconsiderate by ruining it for the people who were actually enjoying it. But Chan, being the champ that she is, asked for someone to "drag that bitch out". Bless her heart.
well that's my little story...hehe
by the way, your photos aren't bad. Chan is more visible if you just lighten them up.
also, I read somewhere here that you were going to see Sonic Youth? seeing that it's now Thursday, how was it?
I'm spewing for not going...being too young and broke isn't fun at all!!!!

okay, here is the next freaky instalment to my concert going. (by the way SONIC YOUTH ROCKED THE FUCKEN PLACE!!!!!) well i was sitting in a front booth at SY and a woman behind us starts to touch wayne's hair and crap on to us (peaking off her head) and i was wearing my Cat Power top so she asks me what night i was there.........she was the noisy BITCH! how weird is that esp. after i remembered that i had sat next to u. i yelled at her 4 it but she ended up smoking joints with me (i ran out and they had more). WTF?!

small world, hey? I'm guessing there were a few Chan fans at the SY gig but still, that is very freaky indeed. funny that you ended up having a bit of a smoke with her. no tackles laid? hehe..
you are damn lucky by the way. Cat Power and Sonic Youth!! who next??

no tackles... she was so off her face (annoying) but if i had been a bitch to her i would have had to move from my fantastic spot... its all about choices!
umm, no more tickets at the moment (i was lucky to find the money for them) but i got offered a job yesterday so im thinking about Blonde Redhead...

You're right sugarbabydoll, SY did rock.... Did you see them last time they played the forum? It was back in '96 or '97... I was there, they rocked then too.
I was at both CP forum shows (and SY... obviously!). Friday night was probably one of the best I've ever seen (I've only ever seen her in Melbourne... been to 6 shows).
So what reasoning did that cockwashing heckler have for being such a goose at CP's Saturday show? Don't she realise she made so many people very angry? She fucking ruined that night (not that it was a total write off..) but it's not very nice watching someone so obviously fragile made to feel even worse by some schmuck in the audience. I could'nt have given a shite what drugs she had to offer at SY, or what she was on to have made her act such a fool, but she deserved a punch right in the throat! (not that I condone violence at all... but geez, she sure was pushing her luck).
Anyway, it's all in the past, and I'm over it (well, sort of!).... So, moving right along.....
Oh, that rap Chan did at the end is called "rad" and its done by a tiny duo called Smoosh. They are so cute, you can hear that song on their website smoosh.com check it out! Support the little tackers!
Anyone going to see Belle & Sebastian???

chan was just gorgeous at the forum!!! to me she has real grace because she is honest, true to herself and values the songs more than pleasing a crowd....
and to that horror of a human being who giggled and talked all through the set - grrrrrrrr you suck!! your disrespect for chan was disgraceful and you should feel ashamed of yourself
thanks for the albums and live shows cat power!!!!!!!
chan is a goddess!!!

I can't afford B&S tickets. they're at a good price considering that they are bringing the 12 piece down here too...but I am really piss poor at the moment.
as for Blonde Redhead, I just into their new stuff a while ago. not too bad me thinks. I'd have enough dollars to get a ticket by then (August, 5/6 is it?) but I only realised yesterday that I got another phucken dilemma..(i.e. age restrictions).
damn you Corner Hotel! you kill me everytime!
GAHHHHHH!!
