The only two of those names with which I'm familiar are Bob Drake and PG Six.

Bob Drake = whacked out guitar-based instrumentals, usually following some sort of theme, and not at all dissimilar to Henry Kaiser.

PG Six = the new psych/folk godhead. Seriously.

This is the only one I know. PG Six used to be in Tower Recordings. Now he plays solo. Its in that psych folk vein a la Vetiver or a less warbly Devendra or some such. 'xcept he's been doing it longer.

its good. I'd check out Matt Valentine (his ex-bandmate) over him, myself. MV's got some CD-Rs that you can get through Fusetron (http://www.fusetronsound.com), but his best is an LP-only release on Ecstatic Yod called Glorious Group Therapy.

You need that record more than you need Through The Sun Door. I haven't heard Through The Sun Door, but you still need that MV album more. Do it. (http://www.fusetronsound.com/label.php?whomart=VALENTINE,MATT)

PG Six's solo stuff is way better than Matt Valentine's, even though I like the latter okay.

Through the Sun Door is good, you should get it (though it is a bit pricey for an EP).

I've had my eye on the White Magic EP as well.

sorry tinobro, but it seemed MV was always the weak link in the band, at least to me. PG Six, Spanish Wolfman and Helen's contributions always seemed better. I mean I like MV and all (tho mostly in TR and not solo), but a lot of what he does seems like half-baked in-jokes for record collectors (which you'd think would be right up my alley, but isn't).

Anyway, PG Six's latest solo rec The Well of Memory is fantastic and as a special bonus has some Helen Rush singing on it.

PG Six is a fuckin' genius. I'm all over this guy.

I'd start with 'Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites' - it's more immediate - and then move on to 'The Well of Memory'.

is Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites still in print? I need to get that (as well as a 7" here and there).
