I'm glad www.dustedmagazine.com got mentioned at the end of that article. Great website, respectable people running it, and a very possible growing alternative to CMJ.
If there's a better written and more welcoming underground music webzine running today, I haven't seen it.

well, you ever read "Careless Talk Costs Lives"? it's pretty swank.

'The Big Takeover' is definitely my favorite music magazine. Their reviews have actually inspired me to try music I probably wouldn't have heard anyway else.

The article about CMJ is a little saddening. It sounds like they are slowly digging their grave.

dustedmagazine could use a more literate editor. then again, the burma interviews in chunklet could've too.
most indie rock journalism is so spotty. i check pitchfork everday, but more out of laziness than anything else. fakejazz are informative but poorly written. bb_gun can be too heavy on the wank at times.
you'd think there would be a little consistency among rock journalists if only because they accuse those whom they review of *inconsistency.*
i guess it's a patchwork quilt or some such nonsensical, Puritanical metaphor.

Good Lord, that was sickening. I especially can't believe the condescending attitude of Mike Boyle.
