Dude, you're WAY ahead of me. That is one impressive list.

"The Rocker" and "Sitamoia" are two of the greatest songs ever - the name of the compilation, though, surely, is 'Remembering, Part One'? on UK Decca?

Turning this thread over to Jesper now, who is the in-house Thin Lizzy expert.

can't think of anything to add off the top of my head... but I cannot believe the awesome "Old Moon Madness" is not in the box! luckily you get it on the CD version of the first album.

I'm kind of a first three albums only kinda guy, but there are tracks of all eras that are amazing indeed.

Patrick I'm pretty sure Rocker (1971-1974) is the US counterpart of Remembering, Part One (when I was a kid, I wondered what was on the, AFAIK non-existent, Remembering, Part Two :)). It was released on London, who also released the first album (with a different cover) and third album (with the same front cover but different on the back).

on a different note, being relatively new to thin lizzy, I picked up johnny the fox today. how does this stand up against jailbreak?

Flo, Johnny the Fox is good, but I agree with Jesper - the first three albums (and singles and unreleased tracks from that period) are the shit. They are 'Thin Lizzy', 'Shades Of A Blue Orphanage' and 'Vagabonds Of The Western World', all originally released on UK Decca. I'd start with the first one, or with the (very budget) singles comp from that period, 'Remembering, Part One'.

This material is in a totally different league from the later straight-up rock'n'roll stuff -- a brooding, jazzy bass-led intensity, Celtic mythology over JBs-influenced vocals and supreme guitar playing from Eric Bell (and on one or two key tracks, Gary Moore).

cool thanks patrick, I'll dig them out! the guy from shipping here at work just saw the vinyl on my desk, and told me a long story about how his wife saw thin lizzy play with rush many moons ago - he then confessed his greatest concert to be queen at wembley though!

it must also be noted that the artwork to johnny the fox is really really really horrible
