Various Artists -- Matador At Fifteen double CD + DVD
OLE-623
October 12, 2004
Matador's fifteenth-anniversary compilation consists of one CD of "greatest hits", one CD of rarities and unreleased tracks, and a DVD of music videos, all roughly from the period 1999-2004.
The three discs come housed in an exquisite embossed laminated fold-out laminated digipak which is to the word LOUD as our tenth anniversary package was to the word MUTED. Additionally there is a 20-page booklet recounting many of the highlights of the past five years via original documents.
The price will be the same as a single regular full-price CD -- what we in the record world call "15.98 list", which means anywhere from 11.99 to 14.99 for you indie shoppers, and as much as 17.98 for those few who still patronize the mall outlets of the dwindling major music specialty chains. Assuming there are any in stock there, which is mostly fairly unlikely.
Complete track listing:
CD 1 - GREATEST HITS 1999-2004
1. Pretty Girls Make Graves - This Is Our Emergency
2. Interpol - Obstacle 1
3. The New Pornographers - The Laws Have Changed

Q: Where is the live "Fame and Fortune" from? Is it from a recent MoB show? I'm probably gonna buy the set just for that song alone...
I just realized there's no Arab Strap on here. What gives?
so so much good shit...
great to see that 'the specialist' gets an official release (down here in OZ it was inlcuded on TOTBL), it's one of their most accomplished songs.

JoJo's Jacket is such a better Jicks video.

but i think the discretion grove video is much less known.
Maybe you live in the UK where i am assuming it is more popular cause I think only domino has it. Am I right?

you bring up an excellent point: "Falling Away" is probably the best video I've seen come out of Matador.

I think you'll change your mind when you see the "Slow Hands" video. It's really, really neat.

It's from when they played with Wilco in Boston ... sometime in the last couple of years, I don't have the exact date in front of me right now.

Hey Patrick,
I have on my other internet browser the checkout for mat and 15 crcr 2 and spit on a stranger 7" at total of 29$
I live in Montreal which means DUTIES!
If you could write the value as $15.00 on the box so that I can avoid dealing with customs. I would issue my credit card number but I would ask you to mail me the invoice separately in case the box is inspected. Otherwise, I run the chance of it being stopped at customs and then on top of duties, we have to pay a $25.00 US brokerage fee to handle the duty charges at customs.
can you help me with this? Please confirm before I send in the order.
Thank You

Hey cheesetea,
Unfortunately I can't help you. We don't do the fulfillment for the Matador Store - it's done by Insound. They are a full-service mail order company and have to play by the book.
Canada and Montreal rule except for the crazy duties you guys get charged.

I just got my copy, and I must say, this thing has the best liner notes ever.
Is this baby out in the UK (yet)? I know someone else asked, but there was no reply, so...
Patrick

Not out in the UK... too many UK bands we don't have the rights to over there.
Patrick
That's not good enough Patrick.
Just kidding, I'll buy it online. Thanks.

I was just in NYC for work and picked this up on my shopping spree. It is a great package, and as mentioned before, the liner notes are awesome.
