I preordered a while ago and got a shipping notice on Thursday of last week but still no CD. I thought insound shipped via priority mail, but I could be mistaken.

Just to let you know this exact thing happened to me when I pre-ordered slow century and the slanted and enchanted reissue. I waited three days after the release date and I still had not received anything so I went out and bought them locally. I finally received them two weeks later. Now I had two extra copies. I let Insound know about the lateness and they didn't really seem to care. I tried returning them for a full refund but no such luck. I have been stuck with the extra copies (still sealed in there original mailer) ever since.

For all you Matador store folks the quick route to answers to questions about your orders is: matadorhelp@insound.com

I don't know if there is an insoundhelp@insound.com equivilant for folks who order directly from them.

Dave

!!!!
I have had a number of talks with Patrick about this, I ordered it on the 1st, and I still have not received it! It better not come in 2 weeks.
I would like to say that I am never ordering from the Matador Store ever again. Instead a more deserving company that ships via NON SNAIL MAIL will receive my money, either that or HMV.

In the words of Charlie Brown "UHHHHHHHHHHHRRGGG!!"

cheesetea,

all due respect, but I did warn you about slow mail service from the US to Canada.

I'd emphasize to all Canadians who consider ordering from the Matador Store: we can't influence the speed of the mail from the US to Canada, and in our experience, it's much slower (in both directions) than mail between the US and Europe, or the US and Japan. Doesn't make any sense, but there you go.

Sorry - all you Canadians might consider just getting Matador releases from Canadian sources!

Best
Patrick

I got it, it came this morning. Just took a little longer than I had hoped..thanks for the helpful messages.

- After reading Patrick's warning and remembering when I ordered luxe & reduxe I knew I might not get it by the release date, but I wasn't too concerned about that, I was just starting to worry that it might be lost since it had been about a weeek since the ship date...

I knew if I posted something it would show up - Kind of how when you are at a restaurant waiting for your food to come and you go to the bathroom, then return to your booth and the food is there.

Let me say too that:

Pavement ist RAD!

I know, I know, I just didn't think it would take weeks to get here. A suggestion : use fedex or ups or wtvr just not the mail, you guys are the only ones I have ever ever heard that uses the mail for shipping. If you send it by mail then what is the shipping cost for?

spare a thought for us in Australia, I don't expect to see my preorder for minimum another week. I just found out the release date for it in Australia and wouldn't you know it was Monday just past. Only problem is no ones got it. Even half of the "Cool" record shops didn't know about the release. The only half guess I got to when it would be available was two weeks, And thats only based on when the rep visits the store and how long orders take to be sent, nothing to do with any actual problems.

We don't send it - Insound does our mail order and product fulfillment.

We will probably look into future options for delivery overseas, and definitely add more prominent notices about potential delays for international orders on the Store.

calhoune, probably because this release was so down to the wire productionwise - it's a miracle it came out on the date planned in the US.

but just in case there are other issues as well, it'd be helpful to know what record shops in which city didn't know about the release, and which ones didn't have it. We'll follow up with our Australian distributors.

thanks

got mine on saturday(pittsburgh, pa). which kinda sucks. I preordered b/c I wanted to make sure I got it on the release date(even tho there was no guarentee) and you can't trust record stores to stock pavement, unfortunately. also, because I wanted my money to go straight to the source. I was disappointed to wait so long...but I have it now and feel MUCH better.

No offence, but in Pittsburgh you certainly can trust record stores to stock Pavement. Of course your access to the stores could be limited, but it is not fair to say that about Pgh's independent stores. Paul's CDs had the CD on the release date and I'm pretty sure that Desolation Row (new store on S. Craig Street) had it as well as Brave New World (Bates St. in South Oakland.)
I'd venture a guess that Paul's CDs have had most Pavement records in stock since they were released more than 95% of the time and they are fantastic about keeping new releases in stock.

Dave,

no, you're right. Paul's would probably have it.
and Brave New World definitely would. That's where I got slow century and s&e:luxe and reduxe on their release dates. in fact-I would recommend BNW to everybody.
haven't been to desolation yet. but I will check it out.
I take it yr from Pittsburgh, too.

but anyway-the point of my post was..damn them for shipping late!!!

Needless to say, this whole notion of preordering has me befuddled. Shouldn't preordering assure you that you have the album by the official release date? What is the point of preordering, then? I learned my lesson. According to Insound my order "shipped" on October 21st. I still haven't gotten it.

It is not like we just received electricity in Minneapolis the other day...

yeah, I am from Pittsburgh and I can vouch for this guy. Paul's CDs is VERY reliable about getting new releases. It is a great store.

do you guys remember when Paul's had that giant cardboard 'shady lane' display in the window??? it was like street signs, inspired by the singles.
I tried to buy it off them-but they wouldn't go for it.
I'd love to have that thing!!!

p.s. I will give a shout to Big Ben and the Bus. go Steelers!

I don't mind waiting for insound because they're nice people and they always seem to throw some extra junk into your order. Like some cd samplers and, improbably, a grand theft auto: san adreas sticker. Too bad there are no pavement songs on that soundtrack, the royalties could have been huge.

I placed my order in early October, received an e-mail notifying me it had been sent out as of 10/21. It's now Nov 2, and I still have not received my order. Hate to bitch, but what's the deal with this? Anyone?

Patrick

K66 -

Where are you located?

Everyone who preordered and have not gotten the record yet - please email me and I'll expedite things as best I can.

The late, late, late delivery of the package I think has caused delays everywhere. That said, all preorders should still have gone out before release date and I'm happy to help follow up with anyone who hasn't gotten theirs yet -

- with the exception of course that we can't be responsible for delays imposed by international mail!

email me at: patrick@matadorrecords.com

Patrick, I sent you an e-mail two days ago with no response. This fiasco is starting to erode my faith in Matador and INsound. When I pre-order an item it is with the expectation that I will receive it on or before the release, is this not the whole point behind pre-orders? If I wanted to waite almost 2 weeks I would have gone to my local record store to get it.

I've been listening to Pavement since 1991, a long time supporter of GBV, and very supportive of Matador for the past decade. This experience is testing my faith. I realize you cannot control the mail;however, a response from someone at Insound or Matador would be a first step.

Please help,

Michael Steeb
