waited and wasted

has anyone else noticed this particular recurring theme in Pavement trax?....SM likes to use the words 'waited' and 'wasted'.
Especially in the early songs. Just off the top of my head_ I can think of quite a few songs where these two words pop up.

Waiting.....
1) Our Singer- "I've been waiting. Anticipating..."
2) Summer Babe- "I will wait there. I've been waiting forever. I'm waiting waiting waiting waiting..."
3) In the Mouth a Desert- "...it's all we have, so wait...."
4) Home- "I'll roll over on my back and WAIT for my number to come"
5) Mercy:the Laundomat- "I'm waiting and I'm waiting"

Wasted....
6) Perfect Depth- "I've wasted all yr precious time...Cause I wasted it all on you"
7) Frontwards- "So much style that it's Wasted"

These are just off the top of my head. I know that there are even more. Please, post them if you got them.
What I'm wondering is if this was on purpose or if SM just spent a lot of time waiting and wasting. Thus, writing from experience.

nice work, yo. and you missed 'perfect depth' and 'frontwards'. so there's probably more.

The weird thing is that so many of my favorite Pavement songs are on that list!!!
so-what do you think of this theme. coincidence or purpose?

Thanks. I skipped those because I saw you had listed them.

Probably just a verbal tic. I've noticed on the CR, CR reissue that he repeats a few words when he's scat singing on some demo songs.

I'm gonna make this mix tape now. I've been wanting to do it for years, but never got around to it. I'll call it 'wasted and waited' or 'waiting and wasting'...or something like that.

we need to ask SM if he realizes how many times this theme pops up. I mean, if ithe word is in there casually-it's no big deal...but those early songs it is featured.
