I was fine with this wave of band break-ups as long it included bands I hated or at least had no strong opinions about, but this one stings.

ooh... that's not so good. I was hoping I'd catch them if they ever came across the pond.
Mclusky's break was unfortunate, for me at least. I was a johnny-come-lately to them, but somehow I managed to see them 3 times in a year, and it was always just a big pile of fun. Not a life-changer, but definitely dependable for a hot show.
Les Savy Fav did what they needed to do, so I'm happy to see them go out on top.
in general, band breakups don't affect me so much. Even when Pavement broke up, I just kinda shrugged and thought it was too bad I wasn't gonna get to see them again. As far as missing potential future albums, you never know when a band's gonna make a turn for the worse, so I never depend on future musics being good until I hear them...

I just listened to Terror Twilight after letting it sit for two years. I have to say the album is really weak, for me anyway. I don't think I could have handled another one like it.

No band I really, really like have broke up just yet - I only discovered most bands after they broke up. I don't know what I'd feel if one would break up. But the affect when they get back together though is interesting. Like, I just found out that the Olivia Tremor Control will be playing ATP in April and one other show in London, and I'm incredibly excited by that. I won't be going but still, the fact that they're playing a show is exciting.

There's still somewhat of a chance these guys will get back together. At least I hope so...
Just completed my LSF seven-inch collection today, actually. "Hold Onto Your Genre/Meet Me in the Dollar Bin" may be the best single of the lot -- damned solid.

Yeah, about a year ago, I started scouring online record stores and mail-order sites for the six that had been released at that point, and then bought the last three as they were released.
"Rodeo" and "Our Coastal Hymn" were fairly hard to find, as they were both quite out-of-print by the time I started looking for them.

Maybe I was just in a bad mood from sitting through opener YourCodeNameIs:Milo, though.

Luckily I was able to get those two when they were still readily available in stores. I got the "reprobates resume" (my favorite) one from them at a show, but then I started losing track and figured I'd never get them all. but after three-odd years of only having those first three, I had a lucky streak and found a bunch of them together at one store, bringing me up to seven.
Now that I have the Inches CD though, I'm torn about whether to go ahead and spend $8 more just to have the full set...
