It's really amusing reading the liner notes where they talk about inventing "prepared piano" despite the album (an early one of theirs) being from the late 50s while John Cage had already been composing for prepared piano since at least 1940. My first concert, BTW, was The Jackson 5 in the Fall of 1971.

tino, how is that 3-CD version of 'Village Green'? Probably one of my 10 favorite records of all time.
I presume the extra CDs include the mono mix, some tasty outtakes (some of which might have shown up on 'The Great Lost Kinks Album'), some B-sides, and... perhaps... the alternate stereo mix of the album released with a different cover in Sweden and other territories... ???
Nice snowstorm brewing here in NYC. They're predicting 6-10 inches with more tomorrow. I like!!!

we're supposed to get 10-15, it just started snowing about a half-hour ago.. sweet!
The new edition is definitely fantastic. I'm not sure what the overlap is with the "Great Lost Kinks Album" (I think the review in Ugly Things outlines it, can't remember though)
Anyway, disc 1 has the stereo album in full, plus "Mr. Songbird," "Days," "Do You Remember Walter" (original stereo mix) and "People Take Pictures of Each Other" (original stereo mix).
Disc 2 is the mono album mix plus mono versions of "Days," "Mr. Songbird," "Polly," "Wonderboy," "Berkeley Mews,", and "Village Green" (no strings).
Disc 3 is all the rarities:
Village Green (Orchestra Overdub)
Misty Water (Stereo)
Berkeley Mews (Stereo)
Easy Come, There You Went (Stereo)
Polly (Stereo)
Animal Farm (Alternate Stereo Mix)
Phenomenal Cat (Mono Instrumental)
Johnny Thunder (Stereo Remix)
Did You See His Name
Mick Avory's Underpants
Lavender Hill
Rosemary Rose
Wonderboy (Stereo)
Spotty Grotty Anna
Where Did My Spring Go?
Groovy Movies
Creeping Jean
King Kong
Misty Water (Mono)
Do You Remember Walter (BBC Session Remix)
Animal Farm (BBC Session Remix)
Days (BBC Session Remix)
I definitely recommend it. The packaging is wonderful too, and the booklet has some nice stuff in it.

I found it at Amoeba in San Francisco for $19.
Hmm, I can't decide whether to post in Paul's listening thread or Maximo's.
I think Maximo's should be taken more literally, as in the cd that's in your cd player right this moment.
In my case, that's the new Electric Six album, Señor Smoke (which is frankly not as good as their first album).

Yes! I highly recommend all of their stuff. The first time I saw them, I thought they were pleasant. The second, though, I really enjoyed them and bought everything they had with them (three CDs and a split 7" with k.). 10,000 Back Doors, the album those three songs are from, was my favorite album of 2002.

The reissue has some killer (and not so killer) outtakes on it. There's an early, alternate version of the killing moon which is fantastic, and a sitar laden cover of all you need is love which isin't.

Tormato? For real?
I was a big Yes fan in my younger days, and have recently rediscovered them. But those later records like 'Going For the One' (is that Patrick Moraz's ass btw) and 'Tormato' were always off-limits.

Perhaps an unpopular choice, but Drama is my favorite Yes album. Part prog/part new wave and NO Jon Anderson.

Late reply here..
I do have it, it's awesome, eh? Especially the alternate of Walking with Jesus.
Do you have Dreamweapon? It has the 45 minute drone track "An evening of contemporary sitar music"... it's wonderful. And their live stuff is great.... as a musician, they're possibly my number 1 influence.

I never really gave them a chance 'til the deluxe remasters stared coming out a couple of years ago. I bought the first four when they were released 'cause they were so damn cheap (and 'cause I've always liked "Roundabout" and "Long Distance Runaround") and was stunned by how much I dug 'em. I kept going with the remasters as they came out up through Tormato. I didn't get Drama as I just couldn't see it really being Yes w/o Anderson (despite Paul's comment) and I skipped 90125 'cause I just can't imagine that an album featuring "Owner of a Lonely Heart" can be anything other than utter crap. Feel free to correct me if I am in error, though.
