trying to decide whether to buy tix or not.

death from above 1979 - i like the album, haven't spun it a ton though. i hear they're intense live.

animal collective - there are parts of 'sung tongs' i adore, and there are parts i cannot stand. i could see them going in either direction live.

when i saw animal collective they were more drone-y and all four of them were playing (this was between here comes the indian and sung tongs, and actually the sound was kinda between those two albums as well). i have no idea how they've played recently, although a video that i saw on the fat cat site had a good performance of "winter's love" followed by a chant of "she's - gon - na - have - a - baaaaby."

DFA79 will kick your ass......highly recommended.....

Animal Collective I haven't seen, but I only heard terrible reviews last time they played in Toronto.....people were saying it was like they were rehearsing songs they'd barely written onstage.....

I have Sung Tongs and really like about half and really hate about half. Live, I walked out after 25 minutes or so.

I saw Animal Collective on there Sung Tongs tour and I thought they put an interesting show. Like vesper said, the sound was a mix between Here Comes Your Indian and Sung Tongs. I thought it was a good show.

They didn't kick my ass when I saw 'em in NOLA this past December, though to be fair I am quite a tuff guy. I would go see Animal Collective and forget about Death from above 1979.

Mmm. Too bad, I guess. I'm puzzled as to how Dfa1979's live set could be described as "intense"..."intensely boring," maybe, but not "intense."
