I don't know what happened to the BTC does it rate thread but I will start it up again.

I just listened to it from start to finish, and I think it just became my favorite pave album. This is probably because I need some fun and cheering up, winter keeps dragging on.
I never realized the genius of Stereo, and I don't get why SM doesn't like Embassy Row it's a damn good song.

EDIT : Spellin'

Huge fan of Brighten. For some reason it's not much appreciated around the office.

i think it's a fabulous album, not my favorite but the competition is strong. though if we're talking lyrics, BTC is second to none.

I'm of the "every album has its merits and is the strongest in its own way" school.

BTC is the tamest, IMO, but lyrically and just warmth-wise, unbeatable.

listened to BTC on the way home from work, and two things came to mind:

- it's got my two favorite spiral songs. ("two states" is up there too, but different.)
- it's got my least favorite SM song ("type slowly").

this was my first Pavement album, and I played it so much that I lost any objective perspective on it long ago.

Earl, no fucking way! "Type Slowly" might be the pinnacle of the album for me. It was even better live at the time - kept evolving as I remember.

What don't you like about it?

it's probably the start of the song that i like the least. i normally don't mind SM falling out of tune, but it's a bit too much at the beginning. esp the first two lines. i like parts of it ... the "type .... slowly" chorus, the analog synths, etc. but overall, it's never done much for me and my instinct is always to skip it.

never saw it live - i could see it working better then.

I too never cared for "Type Slowly"... and "Fin" is the pinnacle of the album for me.

I'll say one thing for Type Slowly;

It has one of the most "What The Fuck Are You Going On About Now?" Lines

"One of us is a cigar stand and one of us is a lovely blue incandescent guillotine"
