That was nice - I prefer that version of Poor Ellen Smith to the album. Interesting interview too.

Yes, nice show. The other two songs - Letters and Khaki and Corduroy - sounded well in their simple, acoustic arrangement. Confusingly , the BBC site seems to imply that the album recording of 'Ellen Smith was played when a radio recording is used.

Talking to Laura in London she told me she was looking forward to recording some unusual songs - cover versions etc. - for the BBC. She was anticipating doing a rather long session in the BBC's Maida Vale studios on June 2 ( the following day ) , from 2-9PM. These three songs and the chat with Bob can hardly have taken that long! And , as Mark Spencer's site tells us

some more BBC recordings were made the following June 6th ; I wonder where and when they'll turn up?

......sez I and confuse things further.

I was putting together a compilation of Laura's recent radio appearances and realised that , yes , it IS the album recording of 'Ellen that is used on Bob's show. Sorry!

Are you sure? Makes my comment seem a bit silly.

Edit: Actually I've just listened again, and it would seem I've made a fool of myself in front of several people. Mark Spencer is a talented musician, but he's not that good...
