Oh man, Happy Birthday Patrick! I tried to impress a girl by pointing you out in the What's Up Matador video and saying that I sort of knew you, but it didn't really work as well as I'd hoped.

I participated in making some mean lobster rolls courtesy of a recipe in the Bangor Morning News.

Chopped up cold lobster meat (some people say claws only, but that means a helluva lot of lobsters), a mininum of mayonnaise (like a tablespoon per pound of lobster), smidgens of fresh chopped chives and tarragon from the garden... and most important... you need hot dog rolls with open (crumb, not crust) sides as are common in New England. These should be buttered lightly on either side and grilled until golden brown in a cast-iron skillet. Shovel in the lobster salad and the result is... heaven.

Do you have a preference for lobster rolls in NYC?

The debate is usually Pearl Oyster Bar v. Mary's Fish Camp. I've been to the latter many times, but never done the former.

I made some excellent clam rolls two weeks ago. Excellent, but not lobster.

Oh fuck, happy belated birthday.

I remember when I asked you (as a joke) if you would create a thread for my birthday after you did it for someone else on here.

Come June 25th last year or this year (my memory's pretty fuzzy these days), you actually made a thread for me, which was cool cause even I forgot about the request by that time.

That was so awesome.

I should have created this thread.

Anyway...yeah.

edit: it was probably last year...couldn't have been this year since I admittedly haven't been on here lots as of lately

Yeah. Fuck birthdays. I just went out and celebrated my friend Matt's birthday (July 2nd), he's a Cancer like me. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.

My view on lobster in NYC is that it generally sucks... the longer that lobster is out of Maine (or Nova Scotia or whatever) waters, the worse it is, hour by hour. That said, the lobster roll at the Mermaid Inn wasn't so bad (Second Avenue and E. 4th St. or so).

When I say "wasn't so bad", it's like a Texan comparing Kreuz's brisket to something found elsewhere in the country. You make do with what you can get.
