unfortunately, they broke up. last i'd heard, they were looking for a new drummer ... which i guess didn't work out.

i saw them live once, pre-matador signing, and was kind of surprised when they got signed later. never got it, though i haven't heard the EP.

perhaps they were a "studio" band.

splitting moments after being signed to matador.. what a thing to do.

they did sound a bit like the stills, though. I get my face dragged through the mud for it but I thought "logic will break your heart" was a nice effort.

i am not familiar with the stills, so i can't say. at the time, i sort of thought they were heavily influenced by joy division, though weren't remotely as good as interpol at reinterpreting joy division into their own thing. maybe i'm thinking of another band, i don't know.

i think they actually parted ways w/ matador before splitting up - i remember hearing about it a while back.

i never really got the interpol-joy division comparisons... (aside from the mild vocal similarities) the only JD song I thought interpol reflected was "Atmosphere"..

JD were colder, harsher and tighter.

interpol always seemed more like The Chameleons to me.

i never really got the interpol-joy division comparisons... The first time I heard them was on the stereo at a local record store. I remember thinking, "What is this? It really reminds me of Joy Division and [forget who the other was, maybe Echo & The Bunnymen?] . . . oh, I'll bet it's that Interpol band on Matador" . . . and . . . it was.

I thought that record was great. And if I remember correctly, Paul also agrees. Not that Paul is the fucking gold standard or anything. :)

I thought two songs on it were great (trks 10 & 11, if I remember correctly). The rest of it was a solid "meh."
