We're upgrading to the latest version of vBulletin, so the boards will be going down in an hour or so.
Hopefully we'll be back up today, with all of our archives intact.

I'm going to make one last Maloze joke for board posterity just in case something goes terribly awry.

... we're upgraded!!!!!
You may need to re-login, empty your cache, refresh your browser etc. to see things properly. At least I did in Safari - Internet Explorer is working fine for me. Safari does not want to let go of a weird interim version of the boards with a green background.

Looks sorta cool, but it'll take a few days to get use to it. I like the old setup a lot more to be honest.

yeah, the colors aren't really so hot, will there be tweaks made to have it look kinda like the old one?
looks pretty sweet otherwise...

Yeah, we lost the templates in the upgrade and this is what our sysadmin has come up with for now. We will be restoring the rust/black/white look as soon as possible, as well as fixing the location of the Matador flag and other bits and pieces.

Yeah, I prefer the 'Matador Red' look, but otherwise, the changes seem cool.

Looks purdy.
Hehe, now that I've actually read others' comments, I guess I'm the only one that likes it blue, seeing that it's my favorite color. But I'm not by far a regular poster here, so I get where y'all are coming from.
I'm certainly missing the "Mark this forum read" link at the bottom of each sub-forum page, but I guess being able to update my profile for the first time in over 6 months is worth the tradeoff.

Paul, don't the icons next to the forums indicate whether you have any unread posts in them or not?
Patrick
i miss the old link from the right hand corner that would bring up all the new posts at once across all discussions. or am i just missing it somehow?
ah, found it under quick links. okay. now i need to find an avatar of some sort.

the font is so big, the New Matador Board is Elderly Friendly.

PatrickSure, I can tell which posts are new. But there used to be a way to mark them all as having been read without having to reload the page in my browser.
the font is so big, the New Matador Board is Elderly Friendly.Yeah, let's scale that down if we can.

I agree about the font... the whole board has been subjected to gigantism.
Right now we're still trying to diagnose the registration problem, which unfortunately has persisted through the upgrade.
Patrick
Hey, cool! I found the "Mark this forum read" option. It's in the nifty dhtml menu that pops out when you click on "Forum tools."

also, as I can tell others are experiencing (Mr. HCI), you have to use 10 characters to post a response, so we can't just say "ok" we have to say "ok........." and so on. please fix this.

Oh shit... can someone remind me of the number of posts to achieve each ranking?
there was
* Junior Poster
** Crazy Poster
*** Insane Poster
**** Freak
***** No Life
****** [I remember what this was, but I'm not telling 'cause nobody's hit it yet]
Are the star counts correct? Maybe "Junior Poster" was "One-Star Poster" or something?

PatrickIf I remember correctly:
Junior was the default for new users.
Crazy was 100+
Insane was 500+
Freak was 1000+
No Life was 1500+
Patrick

and what about the star counts for each level?
Patrick
What you posted looks right to me.

It's weird... I wouldn't have thought I went up to six stars. Oh well.
Right now I'm adding the Matador favicon to all the various pages... something we never got around to doing for the Bulletin Board section of the site.
Patrick
Now that I think about it, Junior might not have been a 1-star position. So just subtract one from every other level.
nah man, i had freak status with only 700-sumptin' posts. i don't want to be insane again.

OK, weirder yet... it turns out all the custom user titles are still in there and vB is saying they're activated.
However it also recommends updating user titles after changing them... perhaps the upgrade counted as a "change"?
The thing is, when I've run vB's updates in the past (after totally removing a user for example) I think we lost post counts - at least once. Or was that just when we went down in late 2002? Anyone remember?
Fingers poised on the "update user titles" button (1000 users processed at a time)....
nah man, i had freak status with only 700-sumptin' posts. i don't want to be insane again.Really? I couldn't remember for sure, so I just went with what seemed to be logical increments.
I remember during one of the older crashes/upgrades, I lost my entire post count. I'd have held "No Life" status long before just this week if all of those (like 400 or more) posts hadn't disappeared.

I remember the great post loss of 2002 all too well.
hmm, i'm almost positive i was rockin' "freak" status and that was without all the lost posts of 2002, man.

Well, that didn't work. I don't think. Maybe with new posts.
Could someone post, please?
