for the few c.d.'s and records I get to keep while me and my GF split, I'm worried about how to transport them from one apartment to another. I bought some bubble wrap...God, am I over exaggerating? I probably am...I obsess over my Jewel cases for my C.D.'s and I am even more anal with my records.

put them in a balloon and then swallow this balloon.

How many cds are you talking? Personally I always use 30 count CD boxes, but then again I can't really make a move w/out seeing one of those. If you've got a cool record store near you though they should be able to hook you up w/some.
If that doesn't work just about any old cardboard box should do ya, just fill up any extra space w/some paper or something.
If you're truly damaged then you'll want to take some special steps w/any CDs in a digi pack.

Good luck

I've always felt that stolen milk crates are ideal for moving CD's, because they're stackable. If you can line the insides of the milk crates with shirt cardboard, even better. Second to that would be the boxes that copier paper comes in, because they have durable tops.

Bubble wrap is probably not the way to go for CD's. You want to pack them into boxes that are 1) not too heavy, and 2) stackable. If your CD's become damaged in your move, it will most likely be by either being dropped (so don't put too many into a big box that you can't comfortably lift by yourself), or by falling over (so make sure the boxes they're in are stackable and can't get knocked over easily).

Collapsible cardboard moving boxes (about 14" x 14" x 18") worked just fine for me and my records whilst moving. You can ask for them at your local moving services. Just make sure the contents are immobile and you should be alright.

liquor store boxes always work best for me. They're big enough to hold maybe 80 CDs each, yet small enough to still be easily carryable when full.

i agree about the liquor boxes. i've used them every time i've moved and they were always easiest.
