If anyone's interested..... I saw Bettie Serveert last nigh in Carrboro, NC.

It was, absolutly, one of the best shows I have ever seen. The band was extraordinarily tight. The tension and electricity between Carol van Dyk and Peter Visser was almost visible. And at one point during an incredible 10 minute solo, Peter jumped into the crowd and played against/with us for a few minutes.

Along with superb sound mixing (a first at the Cat's Cradle for me), tight playing, thick vibing, and general good attitudes, this night was brilliant.

The first band, Tommy Gun (from Winston-Salem, NC) stunk out loud. They sounded like my junior high band and boy did we suck.
The second was Gold Chainz (I have no clue where they are from) was almost as bad. Their lead singer sounded like a epileptic, punk rock David Byrne on speedballs. They had one gem of a tune though when they let the lead guitarist sing one.

Furtunatly, that didnt set the tone of the night.

Anyway, if Bettie is coming to your town, I strongly urge you to go check em out. It's nice to see a band doing what they do best - a live show.
