Blur's 'Think Tank' was one of my favs of 2003. Besides 'The Great Escape,'--which I did *not* like, 'TT' is the only Blur album I've heard in its entirety. Are there other Blur albums worth getting? 'Parklife' perhaps?

yeah, blur's earlier stuff is quite different from 'think tank,' thanks in part to graham coxon being in mix. 'parklife' was my first one and it's still my favorite after 'think tank,' though '13' is also real good. yr best bet might be to get their best-of collection. they were a great singles band, and the greatest hits comp does a very good job IMO.

Seconded about Blur being a singles and not an album band. Their Best of is terrific--70 minutes of great songs--and one of the few of such purchases one needn't be ashamed of for buying. The live disc that was included in some packages is tops too..

I thought it was good. It's definitely not very intelligent or ground-breaking, but it's charming and pretty rockin'. A lot of people claim it's pretty M.O.R.(haha) alt-rock -- a criticism which I can understand -- but it's a record I find myself coming back to and enjoying. I'd say it fairly effectively documents his talents as a musician and is worth checking out.
Also, Blur's "Best of..." was the first purchase I made of anything Blur-related, and I will agree that it is a good introduction to the band and has most of their best songs.

I'd say it sounds exactly like blur, which is definitely not a feather in its cap. I dig several of his earlier solo records....can't blame a dude for tryin' to make a buck.

"Girls and Boys" is on my permanent dance party rotation. And by dance party, I'm referring to the ones that occur in my living room while drinking.

never understood the 'Blur is a singles band' claim. their albums (with maybe 2 exceptions) are excellent as entire compisitions.
if yr new to Blur, I'd say just pick up anything except Leisure and go from there. And then get the debut--it's not a bad record, but it pales in comparison to the rest of their discography.

also the change in Blur's sound b/w early 90s and now isnt so much a function of Coxon not being in the band anymore as them just changing much of their style after 1995. Each record after the Life trilogy is a somewhat logical extension of their post '95 music.
