I love the Lips, even if they choose to collaborate with shite:

In the end, it just reaffirms their need to experiment. They ought to get Justin to take acid.

Have you actually heard Justified? It's rather good for an album of its nature. If you want to hate on former boyband dorks gone solo, focus agression on the guy from Backstreet Boys who sports the surfer blonde hair and *cough* plays guitar on his album...

I'd have to say, although Justin certainly isn't good, he is much better than all this processed pop that's coming out at the moment, and is really difficult to get away from in the UK ( don't know about the u s, but you've had Owtown or whatever they're called), the worst being Girls Aloud. I say the worst, I haven't actually heard them, but I'm just assuming they're really crap, as these processed po types are gradually getting worse and worse, and they were bad to begin with.

Understood and you have my sympathy. You guys did unleash the Spice Girls on the world, so I feel your pain.

God, don't remind me the nightmares are coming back. It took years to get over that one. Sad thing is, The Spice girls were OK compared to these new faceless boy and girl bands.

For the record, I loved the Spice Girls (especially Scary Spice).

ah, the ol' JT argument is back. For me this just shows that in a way JT and the FLips are basically peers. Sure the lips make *ahem* "adventurous" music while Justin makes "shite" (I myself would say "Justified" is as valid as "Yoshimi," but then again I don't like either so very much) but really they're cogs in the same machine... That's not a bad thing, and not disrespect to either, its just the way it is, and I hate how people don't want to see that...

who gives a fuck? Just a photo opportunity for people who get their pictures taken all the time.

you can always count on ol' GC to lay it down the way it is...

Really it was no big deal, just some kid wearing a baseball cap and half a bunny suit miming with the bass, he didn't rollerskate round the stage with an "I'm Justin, love me" placard. Besides Wayne and co still got plenty of screen time, just a few more teenage screams than their probably used to.

With most bands, inviting Justin Timberlake to appear on stage would be this ironic move, but with the Lips, I think it is a genuine act to try something different and embrace pop culture. Yes, I know he was just miming bass parts or something, but I like it. True, it's easier for me to say that considering I like "Justified."
I read an article a couple months back about Talib Kweli inviting Jadakiss on stage when the former was performing. It's a similar, admirable move: recognizing that just because someone may have a more photogenic and popular style, doesn't mean they are bad.
