but are you suprised???
to me mogwai are becoming more and more of a live band....
their recent studio efforts have been laclustre, yet their live shows are fantastic....
in this regard i'm talking about the live recordings i have.....i listen to them much more than any album.....
which i don't do for any other band.
i think they need to stop putting "filler" on their albums and get back to writing real songs.....
obviosuly they're not trying to do this.....but jesus!
Actually, I think 'Rock Action' is my favorite Mogwai album.

there are some nice moments, but as a whole, it's just too glossy. lacks character.
'kids will be skeletons' is really beautiful, though.

I think "Hunted by a Freak," "Killing All the Flies," "Ratts of the Capitol," and "Golden Porsche" would have made a really nice EP, but I find the rest of the album a little uninspired.

It's amazing the world we live in that people are free to talk about the fact that they have downloaded music months in advance of the release date ON THE BAND LABEL'S OWN BOARD!!
I'm not knocking downloading music, I do it too, but I just found it strange / funny / ironic or something.

I really am fucking galled by the nerve of the person who started this thread. It seems like American students feel that they have the God given right to critique records that they have obtained illegaly months before they are released. I hope someone comes and "liberates" your fucking country (or should that be empire) and cuts your electricity then you could find better things to do than proffer your opinions when they aren't needed. Cunts.

...amen to S.B.'s sentiments..except to say that there are also people with a fucked up sense of entitlement who aren't students or Americans.

oh man, I pissed off a member of one of my favorite bands.
I own every piece of Mogwai music readily available, I even bought the Japanese version of Rock Action to get the extra tracks, and have collected various EPs and singles to be a "completist." I for one will be buying this album as soon as it comes out, and would have if it were the best sounding or the worst sounding album I'd ever heard. rest assured that the members of Mogwai will continue to see my financial support, regardless of any shortcomings I percieve with their latest project. sorry to have upset Mr. Braithwaite so greatly with my comments.
