picked up my copy this afternoon, sound unheard, and it's pretty good even if i can't remember too many of the hooks. ultimately it feels like a grower and i don't think the pains will be much. the single is still the best on the album by a long stretch, but i think that's more a testament to that particular song's (um) greatness than a general sense of lackluster across the album. like most cat power albums with me though, i'm not losing myself in it as much as i am acknowledging it as yet another strong album. with specific regard to the greatest, i'm hoping it's the first indication of another great year in music.

Bought mine after work. I decided not to download, so I gave it my first listen on the way home. I wasn't totally impressed with it, but I had the same reaction with You Are Free and I've come to like that one a lot. I'm still getting used to how clean the sound is on this one. It's amazing how well produced this album is compared to her others. So anyway, this'll be a grower for me as well.

Me too. I got the limited one on Monday. Very good album. I cried during "Lived In Bars." She still has her cat powers even after 34 years.

The album of 2006 is in the bag already me thinks. While the soppy mainstream media over here in Britain are raving over the debut of those unimaginative wastrels the Arctic Monkeys, us lot know where the real gold lies.

I decided not to download it either and it took me a while to get used to the clean sound and to the jazz atmosphere. It's a great album but I prefer a rough, rocking Chan with a minimum of instruments.

Im going to the Barbican show. I saw her three times in London last year and I live in Halesowen which means I have to travel on the coach to London which takes three hours.
