It's confusing as to who's actually to blame, but whomever is responsible ran the company straight into the ground due to ineptitude.

Kindercore used to be run by two people. Then they got into some sort of agreement with a larger company called The Telegraph Company, who then essentially ran Kindercore, though the original founders still signed bands and whatnot.

Then The Telegraph Company basically bankrupted the whole operation, from what I understand.

I don't think they did.
All the old Kindercore has either been re-issued by the former bands new label (Polyvinyl in Of Montreals' case) or just layed out of print, which is sort of a shame as I've been looking for some Japancakes albums lately.
