THERE'S A TIME AND PLACE TO PUNCTUATE.
Punctuate your introduction to 'The Obliterati' by signing up to the Mission Of Burma Subscription Service as soon as possible. The deal is amazing and supplies will be limited.

NOTE!!! Freight is only free within the US. Canada and rest of the world must pay shipping. Sorry - it's just prohibitive otherwise.

The laser etchings are taking a little longer than we had anticipated. Gird your belts and sit tight -- we hope to be shipping 12" #1 next week -- maybe March 9 or 10. Emphasis on *hope*.

He said he was pretty excited about the new record - knew about the delays in the 12" distribution (we briefly discussed the etching problem).
The lift broke down and we all took a tractor ride back to the adjacent lift.
He hoped to be playing Boston in the summer.
T'was a lovely day on the slopes.

I look at my mailbox every day waiting for the package. Is there an update on the expected ship date?
Thanks

Next we're told by the pressing plant, next week... we'll be overnighting 'em from West Coast to East Coast and then mailing them out... sorry to everyone for the delay, this proved to be a much more complex thing to carry out than initially appeared.

Our apologies to all subscribers:
Unfortunately we've had continual delays stemming from the laser engravings. The plants keep giving us new delivery dates.
We are hoping the first one will ship from the plant this Friday March 31, and then to customers sometime next week.
Once again, we apologize for the delay - we're as frustrated as you are.

That would be kind of awesome, actually, if true. Getting them all at once, I mean. Embarrasment of riches and all that...
You know, with all of the difficulties and stress the etching has caused for Matador, I'd just assume see you guys save a little on postage and labor and send more than one at a time. This process and all of its problems has to be expensive. Thanks for all of the updates. Good luck finishing the project!

The 12"es will ship all together hopefully around the 21st of April, maybe as late as the 28th.

Patrick, I don't mean to contradict you, buddy, but I just checked my mail and found a package of MoB CDs from insound! Judging from the art on the discs the etchings on the vinyl should look fantastic. Thanks!!!

The number of each CD5 is written on the back ("This is the seventh installment in a series of 8 limited-edition subscription-only singles," etc.)
but is not so easy to see. Had we been able to mail these out once a week as planned, it would have been more obvious.
Here is the correct order:
1. 2wice
2. Spider's Web
3. Let Yourself Go
4. Man In Decline
5. Careening
6. Birthday
7. Period.
8. Nancy Reagan's Head

They arrived today!!!! When I placed them in my drive, each one came up with a very bizarre CD name match. My favorite was Duran Duran. Is this just my beloved software or a cruel trick at the pressing plant??????????

that's weird, we probably need to submit the data and it should work ok. this kind of stuff seem to happen to alot of different CDs and I'm not technically savvy enough to know why...

your computer is probably connecting (via the internets) to gracenote or someother database that hasn't been updated with proper information about the discs yet.
i need to stop reading this thread since i friggin' missed out on the deal. :-|

I think the way Gracenote and those other databases work is by comparing the number of tracks, length of the tracks, and the overall running time on a disc (as there can be weird non-tracked intervals on CDs between tracks) with CDs listed in the database. I got a lot of those goofy matches as well. I think that once the MoB data is submitted, that information will get thrown into the mix. And when you put in the disc, you will get asked to select from DuranDuran, Mission of Burma, and anything else that matches.

The latest from the plant is that they hope to ship the 12"es by May 1st. With luck, we'll have them to you guys before the album is out! And don't worry, you subscribers still get a preorder discount on the album as well. More info on that soon.

Okay, we're up through the one with the Asian temple, #6.
I can remember that #5 was "Careening With Conviction" and that #7 will be Peter's "Period." (nearly a title for the album), and #8 will be Clint's "Nancy Reagan's Head."
But what's #6? I think it's "Birthday."
Patrick
#6 is indeed Birthday. Thanks for the updates.
Patrick
04-26-2006, 01:25 AM
I think #7, "Period." is up now, the song that contributed the lyric and the idea for this whole concept.
The next and last one will be #8, "Nancy Reagan's Head."
There are 4 more songs that are on the album that are not part of the sub series, plus an extra track on iTunes.

The subscribers discount page should be ready by Monday 5-15.Any word? I was hoping to order it and the Matmos while it was still on sale for $12 but now M has gone up and I still see nothing about the discount for MoB. :(
as with many things on this MoB album, this has been delayed a couple of days - look for it on the store on Wednesday. we'll send out a URL and promo code to all the Punctuate subscribers.
Yeah like Adam said we should be ready to go with the subscription series discount tomorrow (Wed.)

I've now squeezed the full fantastic thing past both ears but my eyes still crave the Fairey artwork of the PUNCUATE! series.
Are the eight 12" vinyl singles differnt artwork from the CD singles or are the the same graphics in larger format?
Vinyl lover needs to know: colored vinyl? black? art and track pressing on same or opposite sides?
Sometimes it's not just about the music...
The same artwork, just adapted a bit for the format.
The song on one side and the etching on the other side.

Dave or Adam,
A friend and fellow subscriber received an email today with a URL that let him order The Obliterati at the subscriber-only discount. Trouble is, I didn't receive a similar email. What should we do if we haven't yet received this message? (I already checked to make sure that it didn't fall victim to a spam filter).
Has anyone else had this problem?
I've also not received an email.
We'll try to get to the bottom of this ASAP, but for now you might want to e-mail:
matadorhelp@insound.com
and include all your previous e-mails and confirmation #s releated to the subscriber series.
Dave
Insound emailed me back yesterday with a link. Thanks.
It's just a discount, right? Not a special edition, deluxe, bonus track/disc, subscriber's only extravaganza or anything like that?

I also haven't received the 12"'s, and I asked Insound about it when I emailed them about the discount. I was told that they're still working on getting them all out (as of Monday) and to sit tight.

I haven't received mine either. (I didn't want you guys to feel too alone) I got the same response from Insound as Tony. I had an absolutely horrible Insound experience a few years back, and hadn't dealt with them since. It's great to see how well they are handling all of the delays and issues with this project and how communicative they are. Thanks!

In any case, I'm glad I got the mailorder deal..
