Does anyone have this?:

It looks like it might be the only way to get "Progress" and "Max Ernst" (the only tracks left off the 1988 compilation that were on the 1997 releases) without the annoying remastering treatment given to 1997 CD versions of Signals, calls and marches and VS. Anyone know?

. . . the annoying remastering treatment given to 1997 CD versions of Signals, calls and marches and VS.Huh? I bought them on vinyl back in the Dark Ages then got that first Ryko compilation CD so I never bought these (just the remaster of the live album since it has bonus trax). What's messed up on the '97 remasters?

They sound louder and more compressed than the 1988 CD, which sounded just fine IMO. The sound of them sort of fatigues me... A lot of more recent remasterings have this problem, like the beach boys, the clash, and billy joel... It's really annoying because the late 80's and early 90's CD's masterings become hard-to-find... I don't know why this is, maybe it's too much digital technology?

to go with the kind of equipment use to listen to music on these days (and to compete with the compressed and thus louder-sounding EQ on all the other CDs)
