I'd say the same thing, but anagrama seems to have a presence on the board outside of shilling.
I still haven't picked up the album, but I did see them at the Silverlake Lounge when they came through L.A. I really enjoyed their set. So loose, but never sloppy.

pabost - what's their setup like live? i remember somewhere (must've been pitchfork) that they have like 10+ people in the band ... are they all out there the whole show? or are they always switching up?
would love to see them announce an east cost tour....

They had a drummer, three guitarists and a bassist live. All three of the guitarists sang, and one of the guitarists played keyboards on some songs (I think). They also loosely shifted around on the instruments they were playing, with the exception of the drummer and one of the guitarists. One of the guitarists has the coolest voice; real gravelly and low, barely a sung tone. Also, the guitarist in the band that played before their set, Metric, played trumpet on some of the songs.
I totally agree, this album is outstanding. Such great music comes around once every few months. I listened to it while studying for an exam and man it had to have increased my score by 8-9 points. That alone is worth $12 if you aske me.

wow that sounds great. have been hooked on that album for a while - so many fantastic songs, and the production is outstanding as well ... has that loose/sloppy yet still tight sound ....
read somewhere a while back (again, probably pitchfork though i can't remember) that "KC accidental" (the second song) is also the name of a band in toronto that some of the BSS members are in ... curious to check them out....

I agree. Love Broken Social Scene. Being Canadian, I feel an immense sense of pride when I think about them.
But then again, I revert back to normal when Avril Lavigne, Nickelback, and the sort come back up.
If I was still 16, I'd thank you for Rush.

This is my second-favorite album so far this year (behind The Wrens). I find the diversity is what attracts me so much, though I still tend to enjoy the rockin' tracks much more. "Stars and Sons", "Almost Crimes", "Lover's Spit" are my standouts.

i think that this album is wonderful, due in large part to great track sequencing. like "mass romantic," this sounds like it was done by a good radio afficionado rather than a studio mogul.
i think the use of "afficionado" is a byproduct of all the antonioni pictures i've been watching. i'm about to watch the eclipse with monica vitti and alain delon-geez, i'm stoked.
