Today, we're officially launching Mogwai's Google mash-up:

http://mr.beastmap.com

For those of you not familiar with a "mash-up" it is essentially an overlay of map points and other information onto a Google map. For "Follow The Beast" we're having the band update a tour blog, upload set-lists, add photos and videos - all from the road. We also have a ton of photos from the band and from previous tours.

But, more important for a great live band, we've given all the fans the ability to add their photos and videos automatically via Flickr and YouTube. Just click on "Fan" under the gallery and explore. (more content is coming as we start promoting the site)

I'm sure you'll all find more fun things to do, but here's a primer:

1. Click on the "Austin" show, switch to "Satellite" view and zoom in to the backyard of Stubb's where Mogwai is set to rock-it next week during SXSW.

2. Click on the "Chicago" show and click on the "Fan" under gallery and see all the photos that concert goers snapped last week at the band's first show of the tour.

3. Read Barry's blow-by-blow account of the tour so far, from Glasgow airport upgrades to going all kraut-rock in Charlottesville on Saturday.

4. Bust out your camera phone tonight and email the photos to: delve11dour@photos.flickr.com. they'll automatically appear on the map.

5. Click on "Where's Mogwai" and see where the band is - (yes, we'll have a GPS on the laptop on the bus starting tomorrow)

Enjoy!

whoa, the "where's mogwai" thing just kinda blew my mind.

so the dates marked are where they've already played?

Google Maps API's have done some wonderful things.

The last time I checked, it put them somewhere between Forfar and Aberdeen. Shurely shome mishtake!

I'm looking forward to seeing some of the vids, once they start getting uploaded.

Yeah there was a glitch yesterday night. Right now you can see the bus parked safely at the venue in Atlanta.

Should be all the shows on this (March) tour.

The May dates have just come in and all those will be continued... and then the third tour later this year.

Hmm, I wonder if we could make this work for Europe too?

OK, a few glitches - sorry about that - the new version of the Mr. Beast Map mash-up is fully up and running

http://mr.beastmap.com

Bookmark it - we'll be using this for the fall tour too

Upload photos, videos, comments; read the band's blog, see their own photos and videos; track the tour and the bus using the built-in GPS, have fun with it!

All May dates covered - and we're gonna try to cover the European dates over the summer as well!

should I go visit them? If this thing is live, then they are 20 minutes to get to.

They're only one of the greatest live shows on the planet.
