I’ll be heading to Coachella for the first time this April. Anyone who’s been there before have any pointers for where to camp, how to avoid dehydration, what to bring, that sort of thing? I know for sure that 1) I don’t want to spend a fortune on things like water. Just seems stupid. 2) I don’t want to bring my cell phone, don’t need it while I’m there. Plus, it’ll be roaming charges for me. How else can I check in and call work, home, just in case? 3) Medical facilities in and around the festival? I’m kind of concerned about heatstroke. Thanks for your help.

look at the spin mag with interpol onthe cover.
EDIT - never mind that wasn't that issue. But I remember one thing they said - "Don't use anything but imovable objects as the thing you parked your car next to."

I can ride in the trunk! Seriously, I am broke this year so I won't be making it but I had an awesome time last year. For water, a bottle costs $2. You can always buy one and fill it up at the fountains but it won't be cold. If you score a good spot near a stage, you won't want to leave to get more water anyway so it's good to bring more than one bottle. It sucks that it costs a lot but hey, it's not beer. Helps with avoiding the whole heatstroke issue too. I budgeted about $80 for food, drink and sometimes merch each day. For the phone thing, get a phone card. I use one from Onesuite when I travel since I don't keep my cell on. Some people had walkie talkies but there were so many damn people with them that you couldn't really find a frequency someone wasn't already on. And don't be one of those assholes who thinks that just cause it's crowded, it's OK to intentionally step on people's toes or push them to get a better spot. Unless that's your thing.
