Hey everyone,
I've acquired enough vinyl now that it's time to upgrade my stereo system. The receiver that I have right now is a Sony STR-DE197 A/V Receiver, you can read all the specs. here (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=STRDE197) . If possible, I'd like to stay in the $300-$400 range, but could possibly go a little higher. I'd also appreciate it if someone could recommend a good pair of speakers to go along as well for maybe $200-$300, if possible.

Thanks.

I couldn't tell from the specs if your receive has a phonostage or not. If not, you would have to purchase one in addition to the turntable.

You are probably better off looking for a used turntable on ebay.

There used to be a pretty detailed turntable/audio thread on this site, where Patrick gave a lot of good advice. Do search for it.

I'm looking into a GoldRing GR-1.2, but I don't know if it will be compatible with my receiver? Does anyone have any experience with these?

It looks like you will need a pre-amp for your phono stage. If you spent all your money on the table, as a temporary solution you could buy one at radio shack, until you've saved up enough scratch to replace it.

There's always ebay.
