Check your calendars people. It's now more than halfway through the year, and "The Obliterati" is still dancing on top of the hill called "greatest rock album of the year." And this is from a bunch of guys who were writing genre defining classics when most of the competition were too short for short pants.

Which is not to say that Burma has ever needed to coast on past accomplishments. For proof of that, Exhibit A is "Donna Sumeria." The title may be a pun, but believe me, it's no joke. It really is Mission of Burma going deep into a Donna Summer inspired disco groove, albeit with Roger Miller's always inventive guitar part shooting off sparks, and Peter Prescott mercilessly pounding on the beat. 30 odd years into their existence, and the band is as fearless as ever, constantly pushing against whatever boundaries they find. Hear it for yourself here. (http://www.matadorrecords.com/mission_of_burma/music.html)
