I seem to be having difficulty with the Beat Your Ass digital download. Will it be available only after September 12th?

Yes, we discovered some problems with it today, but ran out of time before the weekend was upon us. We hope to have it fixed on Monday.

Seems to be up and running.
Let me know if you run into further problems though.

Take care

still says UPC code is wrong and secret code is wrong. Otherwise it is prefect. I am entering 10 digits in the UPC code (the big numbers in the middle). Perhaps it is invalid for users over 50.

OK so please ignore my plea. I added those two really tine UPC numbers and the world is right once again. thanks, stewrat

And if you take the first 12 digits of the UPC, add up the numbers in the odd positions (first, third, fifth etc.), multiply them by three, and then add them to the sum of the numbers in the even positions (NOT multiplied by three), then you'll see that the last and 13th digit (the "check digit") is the difference between that total and the next multiple of ten.

Once upon a time, believe it or not, we had to calculate those all by hand while preparing the one sheet. Three times - for LP, CD and cassette!

Once you've done enough of those (and in those days Matador had about 20 albums per year plus 6 distributed labels, each of whom contributed another 4-6-odd singles, EPs and albums), the procedure gets ingrained in your brain.

Fortunately, if you're stuck in the bathroom without reading material, it turns out that the calculation works just as well for cans of Ajax, deodorant unwrapped toilet paper and other barcoded products within easy reach of the toilet.

my mind is blown.

also, this 2LP was my first experience with the Matador "buy the rekkids, get the files!" process, and it was totally smooth and awesome. I'm never buying a CD from you guys again...

Also, this album is one of the best you've released in years (which is saying a lot), kudos to you and YLT. The gatefold looks awesome, the records sound pristine, and these songs are so fucking good. Today was an awesome day, I tell you what.

Thanks for the good vibes tino! I've made sure that JE and MO were copied on this one.

Were these codes only available for purchases from the Matador Store?

Cody

EDIT:
Never mind...I had to dig into the sleeve to free the coupon from the gatefold.

I've had to write code for various check-digit calculations over the years. I didn't know they were built into UPC codes but they're definitely built into credit card numbers, which also have a unique starting digit by creditor (VISA is 4, MasterCard is 5, etc.).

I had a semester of "The Theory of Error Correcting Codes" around twenty years ago and it was pretty cool stuff. Some check-digit schemes are clever enough that the check-digit(s) can tell enable you to tell which other digits are incorrect. This was, and I'd be shocked if it wasn't still, used for electronic data transmission. Each chunk of info had a code the receiver could check to verify the chunk o' 0's and 1's was valid.

I finally picked up mine this afternoon and I'll second tino, the gatefold looks fantastic!
But... there was no digital download coupon in mine (or the other copies in the shop) - is the vinyl-plus-download a US only initiative? It was the clincher in choosing the vinyl over the cd when I pre-ordered it.

Fiona,

Yes I'm afraid it's US only. Did you order your LP from here or from a source nearer to you?

We should implement worldwide.

Best

PatrickI picked it up locally, here in Dublin. I was going to ask you if the downloads would be available in the European version, but was sure I'd heard someone say their copy of 'The Obliterati' (which they bought in the same shop) contained a download coupon so took it for granted. Clearly I dreamt up that incident...

It'd be great if you were to apply globally going forward. I was oooh-ing and aaah-ing over the vinyl version of 'The Greatest' y'day - the shop had it and YLT on display side by side and they looked fabulous.
