based on the repeated shoutouts to New York City on "Look Who Got a Website," writing lyrics for Ryan Adams.
Heavy Trash rolled through NYC a week or so ago, so I think that's what he's up to.
Well there was just a Heavy Trash tour with the Sadies and the totally great Spencer-Dickinson record from a few years back was finally issued in the US (by Yep-Roc) with a ton of bonus stuff. There will a Spencer-Dickinson tour as well.
In Blues Explosion news In The Red is doing a comp of those Juke Box singles (which were all insanely great) that should also have some choice unreleased action from the early JSBX days.

touring a bunch with heavy trash and slated to do a few shows with spencer dickinson. it seems as though boss hog and blues explosion are on permanent hiatus. not sure if anything else is in the works. on a related note, russell simmins new act would do a mean full grown (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=6110151&blogID=154089539&MyToken=1ce11143-d8a5-4ba2-85d9-79b250f3d6ed) cover.
Cool, I knew about Heavy Trash (although I didn't realize the tour had gone on this long). Gonna try to hear that Spencer-Dickinson LP asap.

this is tremendous news. wow!

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this though, as ItR announced on their website at this time last year that it was a forthcoming release in 2006. I'm almost afraid of this becoming like the vinyl version of Spencer Dickinson that they announced for 2002, then dropped from the schedule altogether, and finally saw release last month on Yep Roc.

Vinyl doesn't have the bonus tracks, dammit. Also, I don't know if they're still available, but if you (pre-?) ordered S-D from Yep Roc, you were e-mailed MP3s of songs not on the album.

While I am not sure of the release date, I do know that In the Red are a lot closer to having a finished product on the JSBX singles comp. Go ahead, hold your breath.

Whatever, these things happen. I have a few of those jukebox singles and they're awesome. I haven't been waiting for a singles comp, so mere news of it tickles my fancy, but I'm gonna be just as stoked in 2006 as I'll be in 2007 or 2008 for a complete set. I have fantastic endurance...
miss elaine needs to make it on there.

Having a finished product didn't exactly get the North American version of Spencer-Dickinson out on ItR (announced in 2002) or Yep Roc (announced 2004, withdrawn at the last minute, released last month) particularily quick.
As I said, ItR announced it at this time last year for a 2006 release and it didn't happen. But if it's more than just the singles, as you implied, that should more than make up for the delay for me.
