Throughout all the Pavement years to current, what stands out as the greatest guitar moment or solo that Malkmus has recorded?
This should be interesting....
Currently, I'm enjoying the "witch mountain bridge" solo.

I like the loose, melodic playing in "Fin" from Brighten the Corners. I think that song is really beautiful and not talked about to much. I listened to that song over and over and over when I was a senior in college.
some of his best guitarplaying is on the Silver Jews album American Water.
The solo's in ''People'' and "The Wild Kindness" are my favourites.

FIN (definitely agree w/ that assessment)
Also, American Water is amazing.....If you're a malkmus fan and you don't have it, get it IMMEDIATELY!!!

This question has been easy for me ever since I first heard Fillmore Jive. I guess if you're not a huge fan of rock-anthem-type songs, you might not share this opinion, but damn, I think that song soars on its guitar playing alone. I can't pick a single solo from that song though, so I'm kinda cheating the question I guess. It's one of my favorite Pavement songs...anyone agree?
Since that was too simple though, honorable mention goes to about half the songs on Pig Lib, including Oyster, Sheets, Animal Midnight, and 1% of 1.

Dunno, The Hexx? Maybe my opinion is tainted, because at the sole Pavement show I went to, Malk's guitar solo during The Hexx was fan-fucking-tastic.

Can't argue with most of the ones mentioned so far, but "You Are The Light" has always been a favorite. Love the breakdown. "Father of a Sister of a Thought" too.
"Jo Jo's Jacket" is fun from the solo stuff, plus most of Pig Lib...
