This topic seems like a good one.
If Chan was to solicit your suggestions(yeah right...) for a duets album, which artists would you most love to see her work with? Any of the following could be included: Cover song suggestions; instrumental performers; songs by the other artist to perform; CP songs; whatever else comes to mind. One suggestion or several...
My thoughts thus far:
Duets with:
Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney)
Beth Orton
Tom Waits
Elvis Costello
D'Angelo
Britney Spears (...just kidding!...)
more later.

Mmm ... Tom Waits. That would be great. Which song, tho? Gonna have to think more about this, i guess.... "Innocent When You Dream?" Hmm. Maybe just cover it, without Waits?
Vic Chesnutt, maybe?
It's hard to match her voice with another.

I was gonna say M. Ward, but they've already done it (not a whole album and not something I can really hear but still), so I ran out of possible ideas. On the not so possible ideas would be Beth Gibbons, Fuck, the songs: ohia singer (help) and others I'll add here later. Oh, PJ Harvey, too.

Paul Westerberg and Chan would be great I think. Hmmm...what about Dylan? Or J Mascis?
Interesting topic.

I would pair her up with:
Lee Hazlewood
Howe Gelb
Calexico (as backup)
Nina Nastasia
Jean Grey (MC What What)
Holly Golightly
Aidan Moffatt/Arab Strap
Brian McMahan
Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie)
Neko Case
and yes definitely Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse)

ot to take a slightly different viewpoint.....
what about pairing chan up with a band....
i would be very interested in hearing her with mogwai - something stuart (from mogwai) has already said he'd be keen as mustard on.
but re: duets....
Kristin Hersh - solo that is....think they could do a great duet.

I think J Mascis is a brilliant idea. Bob Dylan is intriguing too. I think she and Sam Prekop could get along well with the right music. Elliot Smith?

Beck! I could really hear her drawling to The Golden Age or Feel The Strain Of Sorrow Never Ceasing...... And maybe Jeff Tweedy or Gillian Welch too.
