have been further digesting the reissue. the live version of 'half a canyon' is incredible and also the different takes on "fight this generation.' would have loved a live pueblo as that is one of my favorite songs on the record and i never got to hear it live. the 7" is a fascinating artifact and cool to hear the stages the songs went through and very obvious that the right ones were chosen for the record. im still not familiar with all of the names of songs on WZ as i bought that shit on cassette when it came out and there were so many songs with various intros and changes etc. was better to just leave it a mystery. ah the pre-ipod days. my favorite record. not to be blasphemous but i think western homes is kind of an anti-climax ending after pueblo and half a canyon and would have made a better b-side.
also, why was grounded taken off of crooked rain in the first place? wasn't it on the promos for the record? why was it deemed unfiiting and bumped?
just remembered that in 1995 when this came out everyone was walking around with a Pavement T-shirt that had two sunny side up eggs on it. i didn't buy it bc i thought it was stupid and now i sure wish i had that egg shirt.
