I had always believed this to be a Pat Smear cover, yet the publishing information in the reissue doesn't seem to indicate this. Have I been mislead?

Well, okay. After a little goggling, this is def. a cover. The 2nd track off of the Pat Ruthensmear album, better known as a cover version by the Dickies and NOFX (?!?) I wonder why it wasn't credited as such? There is no evidence on the S&E reissue of Backroads being a Berman song, either. Maybe only certain songs/situations require listing the actual authors.

Just thought this would be interesting to some people, not trying to be nit-picky. Please don't shave my head.

I've always known it to be a GERMS cover. a old punk band that Pat Smear was in. I think a lot of times it gets confused as a Pat Smear(only) song because he has a bit of fame from Nirvana. more people have heard of him than the Germs.
